adult acne

by balloons, Dec 13, 2007 10:33PM
I am a 54 year old woman.  I have had acne on my scalp and back for approx 2.5 years.  My head and back itch.  I have taken antibiotics and used special - rx - shampoos and nothing works.  When I sweat through my head, it gets worse.  I am loosing hair and damaging my scalp.  What can I do to make this go away.

It is possible to get adult acne at any age, including when going through the menopause. However, acne doesn't usually itch which makes me think it could be an allergy. Consult a different doctor or dermatologist for a second opinion and let me know how you get on. If it is acne, late onset acne responds very slowly to antibiotics so ask your doctor for a more suitable treatment for you.

Try using some antibacterial soap for you hair. i.e. Nozal, Head and Shoulders....

I started to get itchy all over my scalp and used Dial Anitbacterial Soap and it worked!
