Hi. Acne forms when androgens (hormones) stimulate the sebaceous glands in the skin to produce oil. Bacteria on the skin feeds off this oil and inflammed acne spots develop.
To treat acne you must use a product which attacks the bacteria, dries up the oil, or prevents inflammation.
Your doctor can prescribe you a course of oral antibiotics, a gel to dry the skin like benzoyl peroxide or a gel to prevent inflammation containing nicotinamide.
After shaving apply vaseline or Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream to prevent irritation. Shave in the morning and use acne gel at night.
Eloise.
