doryx and tretinoin

doryx and tretinoin

I (23 yrs old) am currently using tretinoin (.1%) every night which is working well against whiteheads and blackheads. I have also been taking doryx for 2 months which i feel is working well preventing inflamed zits. I understand that the acne-causing bacteria will eventually become resistant to the antibiotics. I tried lightly applying benzoyl peroxide in the morning but it was very irritating and just seemed to make my skin worse. What would be my best path forward? Is there a BP product that is not irritating and still effective? email me if you need more information from me to give the best advice.

Resistance to doxycycline is unusual, this happens more often with erythromycin which is why tetracyclines are generally favoured for acne.
Tretinoin is a retinoid not an antibiotic so you this is likely to continue to work long enough to clear your acne.
Do not use any other drying product such as benzoyl peroxide at the same time as Tretinoin as irritation will occur.

Male. Should I continue to take doxycycline indefinitely(until i grow out of acne)? Why would my dermatologist want to limit my treatment to only two months? Would taking doryx every other day be as effective as every day? Thanks for your help.
