kids and pimples

we notice on our one child she will get one pimple (or rather looks like a bug bite) on her cheek area every so often. it goes away as fast as it came. she is 5 yrs. old and has sensitive skin to begin with. can kids get a pimple at this age? at what point would that be acne (i always thought acne was a lot of pimples that stayed for a time)? she is always touching her face and at this moment not the best w/hygiene. any info. would be great. thanks.

Acne is the term to describe spots on oily skin. The word Acne is used whether there are few spots or many. Keep your daughter's skin clean through supervised washing and avoiding products made for adults.
Take her to the doctor for evaluation and advice. Childhood acne should never be ignored as it may be a symptom of a hormonal imbalance. My son has childhood acne and we were refered to an endocrinologist who did a wrist x-ray to check his bone growth. She also tested his urine to confirm he was not going into true puberty despite having acne.

Ok, so what happened with the pimple and your kid's underarm odor?  I really wish people on here would follow up after the passage of time or proper Doctor visits/tests.  That would be a real help.  In that underarm thread you kept telling the Doctor that you were going to see a pediatrician, but never reported on the findings!

a more appropriate request would be nice instead of being critical of people who havent followed up on a thread.  also, it would help if a post had more activity and therefore thread starters would be more likely to respond.  our concerns led us to a pediatric endocrinologist.  she was given a multitude of tests to determine if she was starting early puberty.  as of now it is just some early release of hormones and body changes.  so we basically monitor her.  your best bet if you are seeking information, is to see a doctor.  i have found that waiting for responses on a forum usually will not get you very far.  see the doctors/professionals!
