lip pimple

by nmjawj06, Dec 02, 2007 09:21PM
my question is, I have this big pimple on my lip and it really hurts, it has a white head on it and I am able to get some puss out of it. Is this a pimple? and how do I get to go away?

Do not squeeze your spots you will spread the infection under the skin and could cause scarring. If your pimple is close to your mouth i would use a product you can apply very precisely, rather than one meant for larger areas of acne. You need a product with a 'wand' to apply the product directly to your spot without it going in your mouth or one you can apply with a cotton bud. I recommend ByeBye Blemish drying lotion. I think that when your pimple becomes a whitehead it is ok to squeeze it. There are even techniques to do so, which is: soften the area with a warm washcloth. Use a tissue and use your forefinger to gently squeeze the pus out. Do not squeeze with all your might, you will spread infection. After you remove the bacteria, cleanse it and apply a benzoyl peroxide (clearasil) ont he area. Do it at night, and hopefully it will be better by morning. Good luck! I know it hurts!

Is it itchy? b/c if it is, then it could be a cold sore. Get Zivorax.

Ugh, I hate those! I had one 6 months ago - took over a month to come to a head. I applied a hot face cloth to it several times before popping it and gently got the gunk out - but now it's a scar. I hate it, it's bright red little dot and (I think) it looks like some sort of permanent cold sore or something (I've never had one, but I would think that's what it would look like). My dermatologist had told me to leave it alone - but when it turned into that big white head, I just couldn't!! But be careful with applying some acne creams, they can be toxic if swallowed. And if it is itchy - it can still be a zit not a cold sore, I have mild acne - but it itches like crazy sometimes!
