perlie penile papules

I am a 50 year old that has had lesions on the head of my penis since I was appx. 14. They resemble acne since they come to a head and rupture (if I squeeze them) as a normal pimple would However, during a routine physical, my general practicioner said they were perlie penile papules. I have done some research over the web and there is no mention of these papules as being anything like acne. I am tired of them and want to have them removed. What are these things and what are the treatments? Please advise.
