persistant moderate acne

I started getting acne very suddenly when I was 17. I have moderate acne on face, neck, shoulders/upperback. It flares up at various times (hormonal no doubt) esp in humidity. I am now 22 and have yet to find anything that works. Unfortunately The Pill is not an option, d/t presence of migraines.

Any suggestions?

PS:I'm thinking about going to a dermatologist and requesting Accutane in the hope that it will rid me of acne for good...

then what about spironolactone? It is very easy - look at the soccermom posts to get more info. It is inexpensive and works great. you could probably get it from the campus doctor. Let me know!

Accutane will provide a break from your acne and a complete remission in about 80% of cases. It may be a problem if you can't take the pill as you are required to use two forms of contraception while on accutane. Diane35 can cause migraines, but have you tried the newer anti-androgen pill Yasmin? With regards to Judy48, the smaller dose pills are much smaller in size, so if your teen could take (for example) 2 X 10mg instead of 1 X 20mg it would have the same effect but be easier to swallow.
