pink discoloured facial skin

by cobain, Apr 13, 2008 05:37PM
hello

Over the last 2 years my skin's colour has been worsening. I used to have tanned skin on my face but since i had acne over the last 2 years, my face is completely red/pink. Could this be inherited from my dad who has terrible rosacea? -bearing in mind that he never had a tan anywhere in his body, but I used to have a tanned face and i still am brown everywhere else........ Or  could this problem be the result of topical acne treatments? i used bezoyle peroxide 10% for a few months about a year and a half ago. Still it is getting worse. It looks well at certain times in the day and then usually reddest around afternoon. It looks very unusual because even my neck is tanned! How could this have happened? wat should I do?
Thanks

It is hard to say if  the tendancy to get acne and rosacea is hereditary. I have an "identical" sister who does no have acne like I do. However, my son does have acne.
I would use a cleanser and moisturiser by Roche-Posay. They are very gentle and will restore the skin's balance which may be upset by acne treatments. I also like Lutsine Hydrafnia cream which is especially formulated for skins which are both acne prone and red/sensitized.
I know I've spoken to you before but i've forgotten-have you used oral acne treatments instead of topical and if so what were the results like? Loiloi xx
