reddness but dry, and not bumpy acne

by Christina91, Dec 17, 2007 11:50PM
I have a naturally dry skin, and it is always so dry. So I put on lotion sometimes, and jojoba oil at times as well. I thought acne only happens to oily skinned people. Can this be because of my hormones? If so, what should i do?

my pimples are only red, not even very bumpy... just a little.

You have combination skin, both greasy and dry. I would not use oils as this will aggreviate your acne. Use Lutsine Hydrafnia Cleanser and moisturiser available from drugstores and online. It may be because of your hormones so discuss going on an anti-androgen contraceptive pill with your doctor. Loiloi x

Acne is caused by three things hormones, toxins in your body and bacteria in your intestines.  You can control your hormones with Birth Control Pills or you can control your hormones with a good diet.  Remember that bacteria feeds on sugar so try to limit the amount of sugar.  Some people say diet has nothing to do with acne, but when you have a bad breakout, you'll find out what foods will make the condition worse or better.  For me, I believe that salt & sugar are two main culprits. But, mainly sugar!

Hope this helps.  People with dry skin can also get acne.  My cousin has dry skin and she breaks out as well.

I don't really have oily skin more dry so ive found you still need to moisturiser but use an oil free like Aven'e or Nivea visage oil free cream , these both help control oil but moisture, i think over dry skin can make things like Acne worse.

Some birth control pills are excellent for the skin ( Acne) but this will need discussig with your G.P to get the right type for you.

Good Luck
