roaccutane causing blasting acne flare

by LUpv, Apr 11, 2007 12:00AM
im about to turn 20 and i have been on 40mg a day of roaccutane for one month and 11 days now. i have seen no improvements whatsoever, instead lumps and pimple clusters have appeared on the sides of my face. this is by far the worse condition i have seen my face in. only my forhead, front chin, nose and sideburn area remain clear. i desperately need to see the light at the end of the tunnel. i am very worried the medicine is making matters intensely worse. i find myself spending more and more time 'hiding' in my room. please tell me why this is happening and if i should discuss stopping the course of roacc. with my dermatologist. the pamphlet in the medicine's box listed as a side effect a flare lasting a few weeks. but i seriously think this surpasses the term 'flare'. any helpful feedback will be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU.

Talk to your doc but it really does take time for the med to kick in.
Also what are you doing as a regulare skin care regime? It is important to have a regular regime aling with the med.
Hang in there and let me know how you are.

Im on 80mg a day and I have a mild case of acne, but im 23 and want to end it now. I just wake up and take one 40mg pill, apply cetephil lotion to my face. When i come one from work I eat, wash my face and take another pill and apply lotion agian. Seems to be working great for me. Give it 2 or 3 months to start clearing up your skin. Also it is very important to drink tons of water and take the pill with food.

Good luck!!
