My skin gets like yours sometimes. I don't know if you've tried home remedies, because I like you have such sensitive skin that most acne treatments make it much more aggrivated. When my skin gets especially bad I use baking soda (mixedMixed respiratory vaccine with a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys bit of water, so it's a paste) and slather it on my skin until it dries. It stingsSting-kill, but doesn't seem to aggrivate my skin at all, and makes the bumps and swelling go down. You might also try the same thing with crushed aspirin and water if your acne is painful.
Hi. As you know, most acne treatments are not suitable for pregnant women because they may cause malformations.
You must use birth control whilst on Roaccutane and for 5 weeks afterwards, then it will be safe to try for a baby. Alternatively you could start treatment once you have finished breastfeeding, or if you choose not to breastfeed.
Your dermatologist is right. Roaccutane is considered the gold standard treatment, and most patients experience a long term remission from acne after just one course lasting 16 to 24 weeks.
Food has not been proven to affect acne. Acne is caused by a sensitivity to the effects of androgens (male hormones present in both male and female bodies). Androgrens stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands which produce grease. Grease and bacteria on the skin cause inflammed acne spots.
Roaccutane works by shrinking the sebaceous glands so they cannot produce so much oil. The glands grow back very slowly, leaving the patient free from acne indefinately. I have taken Roaccutane and there are photos of the recults in my profile.
Best Wishes, Eloise.
