Okay... I've hunted the web a thousand times over, and have not been able to come up with an answer....
This particular malady started life as what looked like a zit. I popped it, and it exploded into what looked like a simple bacterial infection. I treated it like any infected zit area (with neosporin and cleanliness), and it just got worse. It seemed to have evolved into a cross between a cold sore and ringworm; red around the area, raised area, crusty yellowish scab on top, weeps/drains/whatever whenever it feels like it... Within a week, there were two more of a smaller size (biggest a bit smaller than a pencil eraser, its friends about half that size). My medic suggested it may be impantigo, and gave me a tube of ketoconazole. This has a very funny effect on this mystery ailment; it causes it to run away!! Yes, that's right, it has migrated a full inch from an area about a quarter inch below my lip corner to right in the center of my chin line, between the chin and bottom lip crease...
By the way, this thing has been on my face for about four months now. It crusts up and scabs, but then it will randomly break open and weep/drain/etc, then be a nasty festering sore for a day or two, then crust over again. It never fully goes away, it just sorta sits there and breaks open whenever it feels like... It's like a SUPER-cold sore, but I tried a few OTC cold sore treatments to absolutely no avail. I've tried anti-fungal treatments, anti-bacterial treatments, this ketoconazole, neosporin, wart remover acid stuff, etc... I'm seriously about to go to my truck, grab my gallon of lacquer thinner, and start scrubbing it with that!! If lacquer thinner can cure a tough case of athlete's foot (seen it done, was apparently painful but effective), I'm sure it can cure whatever the hell is on my chin....
Any suggestions?
