steroid acne

I was taking injectable steroids and after about a month I broke out on my chest, back, and neck with numerous sensitive red bumps. A lot had puss. I immediately quit taking the steroids cold turkey which I'm sure isn't advised but I hadn't done any research at this time. It has been over a month and they have cleared up for the most part but I still have some on my back and get an occassional new one. I have never had any acne problems before this. What can I do to help clear these up and do you think this will reoccur if I start taking the steroids again in the future? I heard that peroxide is good for this. Is this true? Is there anything I can do to prevent this condition before it happens? Any insight you can give me on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
