steroid acne

I was taking injectable steroids and after about a month I broke out on my chest, back, and neck with numerous sensitive red bumps. A lot had puss. I immediately quit taking the steroids cold turkey which I'm sure isn't advised but I hadn't done any research at this time. It has been over a month and they have cleared up for the most part but I still have some on my back and get an occassional new one. I have never had any acne problems before this. What can I do to help clear these up and do you think this will reoccur if I start taking the steroids again in the future? I heard that peroxide is good for this. Is this true? Is there anything I can do to prevent this condition before it happens? Any insight you can give me on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Topical acne gels containing either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can be helpful.
It is very likely that your acne was caused by the steroids as injectable, oral and topical steroids are all known to have this side-effect. What condition are the steroids for?
