Is rehab the best option for crack cocaine?

I have a friend who is using crack. They want to get over the addiction, but needs help. They cannot do it alone and need assistance. They can stay clean for couple of months but fall back again. Is rehab the best place to go? If so what are some good treatment centres in Toronto?

The most important thing you can tell your friend is you never "get over" addiction. He is going to be an addict for life. the good news is that it can be lived with, clean and sober.

But I would say if you can get him into a rehab program, that would be great. But he has to want it, and really want it. The work he will do will be very hard. Check the yellow pages, or google rehab toronto to find some options. You can also call your local hospital for a recommendation.

I have no idea about treatment centers in Canada, but I will say that the best course of treatment for any addiction is a rehab setting. I also understand that it's not always feasible for everyone. But, it's a great choice...especially for very psychologically addictive drugs like powdered cocaine and crack.

I absolutely recommend rehab, especially for crack addition as it is a hard one to get and stay clean from.

He will need to get clean and learn how to STAY clean and make many changes in his life. A good rehab will help him to make those changes.

I am in the states so I also suggest that you use google to search for a treatment center.

I am so happy they are willing to get help, crack is tough to kick and so mentally addictive. I don't know about rehabs in toronto, i am just outside of there and went to georgianwood, but never stayed, just talked to a counsellor and toured the rehab there and attended some N/A meetings, it was a great facility. Unfortunately, it's tough for cocaine/crack addicts to get in, as they take alcoholics and opiate users first, it seems that way anyway and it's a shame. Rehab can do wonders for most. I will send this link, not sure if this one is helpful, but it's for rehabs in Ontario. Most are free, but there are private ones that do cost a bit. Hope this helps. Good luck.
