detox while pregant

Im hoping someone will be able to help! I have been at the methodone clinic for 4mnths since I found out I was pregant I can no longer afford to go I havent been dosed since Monday but I really dont feel that bad,why? Is it gonna get worse and hopw long does it take to get out of your system? Someone help please

hello and welcome to MH. what was your dosage? you cant go cold turkey from methadone when you are pregnant. your baby will also go through withdrawal. this is very dangerous for your baby. methadone has a long half life which means it stays in your system much longer. usually the withdrawal symptoms from methadone dont start until after 36 hrs.
yes it will get much worse. you need to do a taper. please go back to the clinic and you also need to see your ob/gyn and tell them you have been on methadone.

Im having a similar problem. I kept abusing this whole time during my pregnancy, im currently 32 weeks and no rehab will take me until I detox...but its too dangerous for us to detox.. im at my wits end.

you have to talk to your ob and get on a taper schedule and be off before the baby is born.
you need a taper plan. call on monday morning.
what are you taking?

Hydrocodone, oxycodone, roxicodone and oxymorphone.. I went on an early maternity leave at the beginning of this month, with me not working and not having really a lot of money I cut back a lot, and have basically only been taking the hydros.

ohnox does your doctor know ? Is he going to put u on a taper program..I posted atlist on the on one of your other posts a lists of rehabs al lover the us some will take pgr ladies just keep looking

Please talk to your OB asap. I abused Lortabs while I was pregnant but never found out til after giving birth that it can cause pre-term labor. And I did begin having pre-term labor at about 30 weeks. It was after I told my OB that she was able to treat me and find a place for me. Even going thru the pre-term labor I was terrified of revealing to her that I was abusing my meds. After about 2 weeks of going thru the pre-term, I finally broke down and told her. I wasn't taking very much at all at this point though so it was a tad bit easier for me to detox safely while pregnant. Doctors are more understanding then what we might think. They are there to take care of us; that's why they chose the profession. Please tell your OB so you can get on a tapering schedule. In the state of TN if a woman gives birth to a baby who has drugs in their system, the state, in some cases, but not all, will take the child until mom or dad can show that they are on the path to recovery. I'm not telling you this to scare you; I just want you to be aware of the consequences. And if you are upfront with your OB before your baby is born, the more likely he/she will be to help see that you keep your baby. I am thinking of you and I hope that everything works out for you. Talk to your OB, let him or her put you on a tapering schedule and find an outpatient program for you so you can take care of yourself and that beautiful child. Good luck sweetie!
