Are you tapering with the help of a doctor?  How long have you been taking these??  You will feel some minor discomforts i.e. headache, body aches.  Please try and not be real nervous.  You will be okay and get thru this.  Is this going to be a slow taper or fast one?.............sara

I know that taking a drud to get off another drug is kinda of a stupid idea, however there are options.  100mg of oxycontin is a lot to take, possibly your dr could prescribe a drug called suboxone or subutek.  These are opiod agonists which give you a feeling similar to an opiate and helps with withdrawl (withdrawal) symptoms. They are used for opiate addicts.  As long as you have not been abusing the oxycontin it shouldnt be too bad getting off them

You would get more answers in the "Substance Abuse" forum. There are many members there who can help you better than the Pain Forum can.

Most of us are Chronic Pain sufferers who need our pain meds and by chance if we don't need them to get by anymore, our Doctors would make it as comfortable as possible. Do you have a doctor??  If so, talk to him/her. If not....Visit the Substance Abuse Forum.

Good Luck,

Thats alot to come off of. It will be hard and you will be sore, sick, etc for prob a week or 2. Nauseaus, diareah(sorry about spelling), aches and moodiness. Please taper off slowly and suboxone is a great option to help you through the withdrawls and is not addictive. It gives you a pleasant feeling and will make it so much easier to transistion. Good luck
