A fairly simple question for all voting for McCain.

Do you feel there will be a lot of change under a McCain administration ?......and what do you think those changes will be ?

Obama seems to have a huge following in my neck of the woods.

In my opinion.....Kwame and Obama are on opposite ends of the spectrum. That's like comparing apples and oranges....lol

P.S. Why would the "right" have to get off the air? That doesn't make sense, unless it's because they would have nothing to talk about if they had to be honest....and that would apply to left or right.

This Fairness Doctrine is meant for anyone, not just politics or national talk shows. And sure you can sue for slander but once something has been said on the airways, it sticks in peoples head, they don't hear about the so-in-so law suit against the reporter/station. Ok, small town, Jane Smith, jilted lover of John Doe calls local radio talk show. Local talk show says that they heard John Doe, owner of the neighborhood day care was seen looking at kiddy porn in the bathroom of local gas station. This guys  business and life is ruined. He sues and wins because it never happened. But the people that heard that talk show have pulled their kids from the day care and no matter what will always be suspicious of John Doe. The poor guy never saw it coming , never had a chance.
I'm sorry I don't see a problem with the Fairness Doctrine.
My opinion.

the slander comment was meant that if a talk show host slander's someone that they can be held responsible. Just to make what I meant clear.

Did you ever hear of "slander" and the fact one can be sued for it!

The fairness doctrine is just a way for the left to get the right off the air, the left can’t support a program of their own or a radio station, look at “air America” no one wanted to listen to it and thus there was no funding to stay in business.

Takeing away the Fairness Doctrine has allowed talk radio hosts to get lasy and not have to investigate the statements. I think thats been a problem with the media for quite a few years now, radio and TV etc. They've gotten lasy and will just repeat what ever thay are told.

LMAO.......... The possible reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine, does not in any way take talk radio off the airways. LOL
What the Fairness Doctrine inforces is  allowed responce air time on said talk radio from an individual or group that may be attacked on said talk radio.
For example..the way it is NOW........A radio talk show says Sahrah Palin is pregnant with McCains baby and shes a hussy sleeping her way to office.  The radio station DOES NOT have to give her air time on that show, so she could defend herself, and the station doesn't need to notify her of what they said.
Bring back the Fairness Doctrine, and Mrs. Palin would have the right to air time on that show to defend herself. And the station would need to notify her of the claims they are making about her.

THIS IS A BAD THING?????
How is this takeing away the freedom of speech? Sounds like it's giving it back.

That's why I said, "forgive me if I'm wrong."  I have read and heard he was wanting to ressurect the Fair Doctrine Act of 1934. Nancy Pelosi has said publicly that she supports the reinstatement of the Act.  I do believe if he's president and congress brings him that bill, he would sign it.  I disagree with the reinstatement of that bill.

I have voted for Bush twice and to he honest have been disappointed in many of his decisions.  Not all of them, but many of them.  I do believe he is a man who loves this country. As most of our Presidents, he tried the best he could.

I personally feel that McCain is a different man than Bush.  He has some good ideas that can help us.  I don't put things into words very well, so all I can say is go to his website and read what he wants to do, especially for the economy and environment.  I like his ideas and his way of thinking.  Obvioiusly, we will not agree with everything from our candidate of choice.  In fact, I was NOT a McCain supporter before - I had to go read and read and read and look at the issues and then that's when I made my final decision.

I know in my heart and through prayer and the fact that McCain has that strong integrity that he WILL DO a better job than Bush and a better job than Obama can do.

Those are my opinions.

Hi!  I feel the same way as jo488 in the sense that I want America to be what it's supposed to be and neither party is doing it!  For me, I have to look at the issues, i.e., abortion, immigration, gay marriage, free speech, economy, energy, etc.  For me, McCain supports the energy plan that I want for the country, not Obama.  Just read what it says on his website.  I agree with all of what he wants to do with that.  I believe that he will listen to what the American people will want.  He also agrees with global warming and wants to clean up the environment this is one reason many conservatives have fought him so hard.  Many people, including high ranking democrats have said that when McCain says he'll do something, he will follow through.  That's important to me, because when he says that he will go with what the majority of the country wants - I believe him!  I believe that he has the better economic plan - it's NOT Bush's plan.  Abortion is a HUGE issue for me (as I stated in a different post).  I believe marriage should be between a man and a woman.  Many people say that God gave us "free agency" to choose.   Yes, but he also gave us that free agency by giving us America!  America is a country where we can vote the people in who make law.  So, my agency allows me to choose someone with my ideals.  It is said, and I am only saying what I've heard, so if I'm wrong, forgive me:  that the democrats, especially Obama want to take talk radio off the air under the Fair Doctrine Act.  That's scary.  Once you start regulating any kind of freedom of speech, then what?  You won't have a voice anymore.  McCain does not want to take away those rights and believe me he has every reason to want too, he's been attacked by the liberal radio shows and the conservative ones.    McCain will also follow the second amendment to protect our rights to bear arms.  Obama has stated he does not agree with citizens having weapons.  I'm sorry but that is our given right under the constitution.  In my view, our constitution is better protected with McCain, than with Obama.

I have a question, and no I am not being fecious, I truly don't understand when supporters of McCain, like jo488, say "we need to take our America back and be something we can be proud of".         Seriously I hear that more and more from Republicans  and I don't know who they need to take America back from, since we have had a Republican Administration for the past 8 years.

Please enlighten me,  how are  you "taking America back' from a Republican Administration for the past 8 years and passing it onto another Republican  Administration for the next 4 years, and how will that make you proud of America again?

I will say- that if the abortion issue is more important to a voter than all the other issues combined- then  that voter has every right to vote on the basis of that one issue only.I understand that and I respect that.
I just would hope that the same respect would be afforded to a thoughtful person who votes on the basis of a combination of issues. I don't think it is appropriate to characterize such a voter as a baby killer any more than it would be appropriate to call folks who support the Iraq war murderers.

jo488,
You're picking your candidate on one issue. America is faced with a lot of serious issues right now. And if things don't change, some of those beautiful new babies will be out on the streets, homeless, along with their families.  Look outside the box a bit. Whats going on may surprise you.

I think Obama and McCain both have good hearts.  Our country is in deep deep do-do and to continue on the same path will not help. The facts are McCain agrees with most all of Bush policies that have taken us down this path. Thats why I can't vote for McCain.

I am voting for mccain,,,,,simply because I think that he has a good heart and that he will not be killing any more of our american babies thru abortions......Obamans will keep on killing our unborn babies.
Everyone is all upset about how many young americans die in the war....what about the helpless babies who never even had a chance....the soldiers at least chose to go and fight....the babies never had a chance to fight at all......
I am voting for truth, justice and the American way that I was raised with and I hope and pray that everyone will vote for the mccain/palin ballot as the most common sense choice of all ......we need to take our America back and be something we can be proud of.

I have to say I agree with Magi. What I've seen in all these posts is.......Obama supporters are listing issues and reasons to vote for Obama.................McCain supporters are listing things they don't like about Obama and reasons not to vote for him..........But I'm not seeing a lot of posts saying what McCain will do for us.

It just seems to be pro Obama or against Obama. Not much rallying behind McCain.

There are some issues that I either don't agree with Obama or would like to see him take a stronger stand on etc. But we haven't talked about much about them. I brought one of these issues up awhile ago. That issue being Immigration. There have been very few of the candidates that deal with this issue the way I would like it to be dealt with.
I doubt that anyone could find a candidate (other than themselves) that they could agree with 100% of the time on every issue.

As far as no one finding fault with Obama, Obama supporters say the same thing about McCain supporters. It's as clear as day.
These debates are kinda like the Bible, a million people can see or read it, and there will be a million different interpretations, each one of those millions absolutley certain that their translation is the correct one.
What I find so extremly frustrating, is that no one can supply any information to anything McCain will change for the better, or that he will not follow in Bushs policies.  If I was sitting on the fence about who to vote for, no one has yet to give me the changes McCain will do for us, especially the middle class. Everytime the question is asked people answer with a statement about Obama. Drives me in-F-ing-sane.

The futile part is not the argument itself but they way it is argued. Peolple may not like McCain but are voting for him becasue he is the lesser of 2 evils. But Obama supporters seem to find no fault what so ever about him. There is always some comeback even if its not true or half true. Obama is not perfect but you wouldn't know it from his supporters. I like to think I'm a little more open minded. There are things that I like about both candidates.

Change will happen no matter what candidate wins. I know Obama supporters don't believe that, but change always happens. Its a fact of life. That doesn't necessarily mean its good. It can go either way. I will listen to the debates, I will read but I can't keep up this argument with people who see no fault with Obama.
