AA or NA meetings

The meeting that is nearest me (far enough off that no one will know me and close enough time wise) is an AA meeting. I have gone to them before with my sister and I like the 12 step program. I wonder if it makes a big difference. I don't have a drinking problem and only drink from time to time. I wonder if they will suggest I go to a NA meeting or let me stay??? Anyone know. When I told my husband the other night that I had felt like taking a pill because I felt alot of pressure on me he said One Day At A Time-- I ended up reading some of the Big Book I bought for my sister because she threw it at me. LOL- it was sort of funny at the time --but no funny at all when she drives drunk

I have personally heard from people that they go to AA because they like it better than NA......so they will let you stay. I believe it is Worried878 that said that. She is one of the ones that said that though. Best of luck to you.

I think you should try both see what you fee suits you the best . some people perfer aa then others say NA is working well for them . Either way it is a great step to take :)

I would suggest AA my brother has been clean for going on three years from pills and he feel's he can relate better to people in AA and not so much people in NA

my suboxone doctor suggested AA for my pain pill addiction instead of NA so I dont just meet up with more people to get high with but to actually be there to deal with my feelings and problems

I would love to go to a meeting around here, actually trying to find one. thats just what my doctor had said that some people are there court ordered and dont want to be there so I was wondering if when I am at my lowest of lows is that a safe place, I should hope its not people just meeting up there to meet new people, everyone needs a safe haven when they need help the most and I am sure most people there are great its just the handful of ones that dont want to be there I am afraid to meet up with when I am weak thats all!
