Addition to Vicoprofen

4 years ago when I was 30 years old, I got very sick with a virus called 5th disease.  It was the worse case my doctor had ever seen in an adult.  Every joint in my body swelled and I ran a high fever for over a week.

Once the virus was gone, I was left with arthritis and severe pain.

With 2 small children and owning my own real estate company, I had to take something to make me feel better and take away the pain.  My doctor tried celebrex, he tried naproxen and tons of other medications until he gave me a Rx of Vicoden.  It worked.  I felt better, had energy, no pain, happy, functioned and felt human like a young mother (and wife) should.

So month after month, I kept getting my medication refilled.  Then before I knew it, 3 1/2 years had gone by and my family doctor suddenly left his practice and moved out of state.

I went to a different doctor who didn't approve of the Vicodin, they wanted me to go to a pain clinic and learn to live with my pain.

I went to several specialists, who couldn't find anything to help me either.

I have NO side effects from the pain killer, only pure elation.  Like I said, I'm happy, I'm active, and successful.

Now I am faced with no having a means of getting it anymore.

WHAT DO I DO?  Everyone says that it shouldn't be used long term, but I'd rather take my chances now and live a quality life than to be in pain, and miserable around my family and fail at my job long term.

Any suggestions from anyone out there?

Should I order online?  Never done it, but thinking about it.

dear mommy.
of course you have no side effects that you can see. the pure elation, active and successful. those are the cornerstone qualities of narcotic addiction. that is why we use it. you have been using, yes using for three and one half years. now you are faced with no means of getting it. what do you do? i would love to live a life without pain or being miserable but unfortunately that is not an option for me with pain meds. i feel great on them and terrible off. for a while. then slowly but surely you will return to normal. the arthritis and other symptoms can most likely be treated with non addictive prescription nsaids. your physician can help you with which ones will work best. but ordering online is drug seeking. typical addiction activity. you are going to have a hard time finding a physician that will keep you long term on any narcotic pain killer unless you doctor shop or find a crooked physician. all more drug seeking activities. if you are not in withdrawal, do not begin this cycle. i beg you, the elation you feel is not worth the sacrifice of an addicted life. there are many who can attest to this. lots of luck
