After quitting methadone & sexual problems in men?

I'm not sure if anyone here has gone through the same thing, but it's worth a try. My husband and I both quit taking methadones 46 days ago. Our sex life was great before and during that time, but now that we're both clean, his stamina has really gone down hill. I don't want to get too graphic, but he's only able to go for about 5 min. at the most! I was just wanting to see if this is a side effect from taking the methadone, or could this have been a problem before and the methadones were covering it up the entire time? Cold turkey!! We finally made the decision to quit after the addiction threatened our marriage. Thankfully we did it together, so we had each other to lean on. I think I'd rather give birth again than detox on my own again!! Hopefully all of this will be remedied with some more time. Thanks again.

your husbands symptoms are opposite from the norm, most men increased  libido during detox and their first year clean
it can become a problem in a treament facility,"pairing off"  most facilities seperate the men and women for various reason this is one of the reasons
when i was detoxing off 240mgs of methadone in 2004 i can honestly say sex was far out of my mind but around the second week i felt that increase, men report that masturbation makes them feel better during detox, no clue why, i only know this because the facility i work at treats men and women, well and i went through it myself, and watched my husband detox when i was a year clean
maybe your husband is like me and it will take a while for him to get that back

methadone takes longer..........but he will be better in some regards. he will get back to normal, might take awhile depending on how long hes been on the 'done. methadone is strong stuff, sticks around long as hell

all opiates and opioids make men last longer, they desensitize the equipment

He can always double dip. Try oral sex first and then give him a bit to recoup. It will be better the second time around. Condems will also help to make him last longer. There are also condems with numbing stuff in them. There are always ways to make sex better and longer. Give them a shot. It will make you both more at ease.

46 days is GREAT.. Just try and remember that with EVERY DAY it WILL get better...
Sex... Life...CLEAR MIND & BODY....

Life is GOOD... Sex is great.....but ya gotta remember how long you were NUMB and then take that into perspective.

Yes, he's "pleased", and I'm trying to be supportive, but in all honesty, I'm a little frustrated about it and he's getting more frustrated by it than me. How long will this last? Like I said, we've both been clean for 46 days now. I'm sure it depends on how long he took them and how much he took. Thanks guys.

Its just part of the detox process. Men become very sensative down there during detox. However he was before being on the meth will be what he returns to. The meth and heroine along with other drugs desensatises us men and makes us last longer. During the detox our body becomes extra sensative but it will pass. Dont no if you had sex with him before he was on meth but that is what he will probably return turn.
