Anxiety

I've been having some real strong anxiety. I'm on day 5 already.

If I stay busy I'm fine but when I have downtime like watching TV or car rides I get really anxious about everything ahead (upcoming surgery/new born coming) I never had these feelings while on pain killers.

Did anyone have this and when did it pass finally?

Anxiety.. absolutely, its like you gotta get out but dont know where, your neurotransmitters (serotonin) are trying to learn to re-fire so it will happen. I found thats the same with me, keep yourself busy and your not thinking much about it, I was having such a bad anxiety episode I went over to my aquarium and it went away immediately. Maybe try to read a book that will captivate your interests or a hobby. It does get better

The anxiety can be really intense.  I had it so bad one day I felt like I was going to pass out in a store.  I hate to mention benzo's but they do help the intial stages of anxiety.  Benadryl seems like a great alternative though.  It will pass - I am telling you both it does not last.  Give it a few more days and you should be at least feeling some improvement.

All my best,

I’m on day 4 and feel the anxiety too.  I know it is something that we experience as our brains take baby steps to learn to function properly again.  It takes time, but we took a lot of time abusing our brain, so it kind of makes sense.  I know it’s not fun at all though.  Depression and anxiety are the worst.   When I went to my psychiatrist last week I told him I was having anxiety really bad.  He kind of said “uh huh” like it’s common.  I said you don’t understand, I get it so bad I feel like I have to jump up and run out of the room, outside and down the street.  I don’t want to even be in my body.  So he finally understood and gave me some Ativan.  It has helped but I really try not to take it unless I really have to.  If you don’t have any prescription medication for it, try Benedryl.  It helps with sleep and it also helps with anxiety.  It calms you down.  It might make you tired, but to me it’s worth it.
