Anyone Else Ever Think About This?????

I was reading a post a while back and since then, I have been wondering about something.

We are all here because we are addicts or we are loved ones or friends of addicts but the other day I saw a post asking if anyone on here had met in real life....LMAO...which was "funny" to me because this is real life, but I know what she meant. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you had wondered about the neighbors, friends, family, acquaintances, or co-workers that you have and wondered if any of them are or were addicts? To me, I read the one post and it read that you can go to a lot of homes and find some kind of narcotic pain killer or something addicting. I think that is true to an extent. There are a lot of people that are addicted or that are getting addicted to medicines these days and so it made me think about the people around me that I see regularly. We are saying it is nice to have someone to talk to that can relate and that is why a lot of us stay even after we are clean for some time. I wonder how many of our friends, family, co-workers, etc. can also relate but just don't talk about it. I know I did not go around telling people, "Hey guess what, I take Lortab's and I think they rock am give me energy, etc..."

I am rambling, but it is something that I have thought about and wondered if anyone else did too?

I moved to a smaller town for relief of city hassles and work in a small co. family owned (20_25 guys mostly home grown and they recently stated UAs for new hires or any injuries. If they tested all employees, maybe 2 or 3 would still have jobs. even the bosses son. Everyone is a potential user abuser. Addiction is equal opp. employer

OMG Crispy...I know I have been high enough at the time and kinda said it too... I would be like oh I don't like to drink I'd rather take a pill or somethin....then you know 3 days later when I remembered I would be embarassed about it.... oh well!!!

I totally wonder about people around us all the time.

umm i actually went around and told ppl when i turned down alcohol or something that my DOC was loritabs and woudl go on and on about them. But in my defense I was high at the time >.>

I do think about it.....sometimes just out of the blue in weird places and often wonder about neighbors, and its funny because I was watching a morning show and there was an attorney/vicodin addict and she made a statement that stuck with me, that she was not looking for a home, but,  went to open houses in search of drugs in peoples med. cabinets.......that was a whoa moment.  looking at her you would never had guessed, but looking at some.....you just know.

Jodi Foster........caught buying crack off the streets.......who would have guessed??

I think it's more than we could imagine. I go to women's AA meetings and you wouldn't believe the people I've met. teachers, nurses, doctors, lawyers, housewives. I know I can't be the only one on my block who got addicted to pain killers. When I share my story in AA, you can't believe how many people come up and say,that sounds just like "me". They have to be my neighbors or potential friends because ther are just too many and that's only the ones who attend.
I think the kicker is getting someone to admit they are or were an addict. Oh and yes my pdoc says it can be past tense with caution.
What an interesting topic to bring up, I like it, you've got me looking real close at my neighbors now!!! LOL

While we are still using , nobody talks much about it. But after i quit i pretty much tell everyone. Mostly because i want to warn them of what they are getting into.

You would be surprised when you open up and tell your story, just about everyone is taking something these days. I was shocked to find all the relatives in my families that are addicted to different stuff. Not everyone will admit they are addicted but hey if they have been using them for a couple of years they most likely are.

yes i have wondered that before by the way some u know or love act or their eys look like. just like when i was working the doctor i was working for some times would just go blank on me or would look funnier then usual lol...then one day i went in his house which was attached to the clinic to use bathroom and there were tons and tons of narc's me using too i went ahead and confronted him about how he would just go somewhere else and he admitted to it and said he was glad that i knew cuz sometimes he shouldnt be doing surgaries on the animals so after that when he would be to stoned i would have to do the surgaries for him to cover it up, thats when he started given me alot of the pills i needed course i hate to admit it but working there i took alot of the med's that were for animals. I wonder now how he is hiding it?? you just never know who is an addict.
