Are most Sub docs GP's? Psychiatrists?

Just wondering if those that have used Sub..or know someone that is..whether the Sub doc was a GP, Specialist, Psychiatrist?? Any difference? Is one better than the other??

I think most are GP's. They then go on to get their certificate to prescribe Sub. However, I have heard people say that they were prescribed Sub through their Psychiatrist. So...it appears anyone with a medical license can get certified.

They are all types of doctors.  I looked for one who did pain management first and Suboxone second because I wanted to be sure that my chronic pain would be addressed as well as my addiction problem.  But IBKleen is correct, any licensed MD can get certified to prescribe it.
