Detox help question

I am detoxing for the second time, does anyone know if a regular sleeping pill is ok to use in place of Valium?  I can not get Valium, but need to sleep.

hi, you might want to try Sominex, or anything with doxylamine succinate (an antihistimine) for sleep that seems to be the stronges over the counter i could find. probably take around 3-4 of them.  it might help.  i tried Valerian Root when i was detoxing from heroin probably took 20 a night.  might have helped a little mad my poop green though lol.  good luck

I haven't tried it yet, but Valerian Root capsules, from a health food store, is supposed to help. I read that on one of the archived threads.

What kind of sleeping pill??  Some are more effective than others during withdrawals

Well congratulations on your decision to detox.  My hubby was on hydros too.......and this is day 19 off those.  He stayed in the whirlpool bath a lot the first couple of days and the thomas recipe seemed to help him alot.  He doesn't type or read a lot, so I have kinda been his eyes and ears here for him, and this board is awesome.  Just hang in there......your can do this!!!!

I am detoxing from hydrocodone 10/325 about 4-7 per day.  It has been about 30 hours and I am sore and feel like ****.  I need to sleep.

Can I ask what you are detoxing from and how long? Not sure where but I read somewhere of someone taking benedryl because they didn't have access to valium or klonopin.  Personally I am not certain that will work though just something I read and it wasn't on this board.  I would think an over the counter sleep aid may be better than nothing at all.

I just mean, I need to be able to sleep through this cold-turkey detox and I do not have the Valium or the like mentioned in the Thomas Recipe.  Will an over the counter sleep aid work?

i don't know what you mean by a "regular" sleeping pill. Do you mean OTC meds?
