Do you look up your medications before you take them

I was just was wondering how many of us look up the medications we are prescribed before we take them. I noticed especially with tramadol that a lot of people do not  know what some medications can do .How many people look up what the take and how many others just simply go by what the doctor says.

I have always looked up every medication that has been prescribed to me is the the norm or am I just overly cautious?

Since the pharmacy made the error and my son was overdosed and hospitalized as an infant... I question the doctor & the pharmacist. However, we of course changed pharmacies and the pharmacist at Target knows about it and she always explains EVERYTHING to me in great detail for all 3 of us b/c she knows I freak out.

Now, I had already been on my klonopin & zoloft and was well addicted to hydrocodone at the time...so those weren't discussed....(I knew I about the hydro though just not the klonopin)

So to answer the question...um Yes, I do. LOL

I've found not enough info is listed on the internet med sites or on the little pamplets that come with the meds. Some times you just need to talk to a few people that have taken the med. Like this Cymbalta, I knew you had to wean off it, but I really didn't realize how sick it could make you if you dropped down to low to fast.
I'll be researching all future meds with people that have used it.

I'm with Sara.  I never did before my addiction, but for some reason now.......I trust no one !   Good thing I do, as my Sub doctor has prescribed some really heavy stuff for me.  I know she's just trying to help me get some sleep. A couple of times I've had to take off work because of the meds didn't wear off in time.  There was no way I could take this stuff on a daily basis like she prescribed. I'd be a walking zombie.

I have gotten to where I either check it one my computer at work, or go home and look it up before I get it filled.  If it is something I think might cause me a problem or jeopardize my sobriety, I don't get it filled.  I trust the pharmacists more than the doctors, but then the pharmacy just wants to fill your script to get their money.
