Today is Dump the Pump day here in L.A. People are supposed to use public transporation or other means for getting around (bikes, walking). As if people are going to voluntarily walk anywhere seeing as the temp.right now is already 103! And it's not even 11am! (I'm in a valley area) It got up to 108 yesterday. Are any other cities having this as well? And is it working?
They are doing it Up here in Seattle area as well. There is now way that 1 day is gong to affect the oil companies. As I see it, the only true way to hit them hard is to totally boycott (for a long time) 1 majorMajor tears Major-gesic oil company at a time! Hitting there pockets is the only 'talking' that will change them.
I saw something on t.v. yesterday about an insectInsect bites and stings Insect stings and allergy that excretes crud oil......lol. Seriously, they are talking about cloning them to to get the oil we need. Also, being from So. Cal. .....Jackie.....did you hear they want to start oil production off our coasts.....what do you think about that.......I say go for it !!
I'm on the coast and I am dying in 85 degree temps......dang, I am pathetic. I just don't do well in the heat............
Yeah, those LA moguls using Public Trans. haha.....would love to see that !!!
I agree with you regarding the offshore drilling. Some say it won't have any effect on the current oil prices but if it's going to help in the long run for the future, I say drill away! One thing that does concern me is the risk of spills or leakages. But that risk is run anywhere oil is drilled. California needs all the help it can get. Now we have this dang drought to deal with as well. I love living here (born and raised) but the cost of living is outrageous. I was in the real estate industry on the escrow end on my way to becoming an escrow officer and blam! got laid off when all the mortgage b.s. started. I really feel for all the people losing their homes. But it's that way in other states as well unfortunately.
So if they want to drill and clone the buggies, go for it. What do we have to lose by trying? And if we don't try, then we'll never know. I read that Disneyland is powering the Mark Twain Riverboat using the oil from food and stuff. The conductor says it smells like french fries all the time.
GoingToMakeit: I agree 100% that 1 day is not going to cut off. Not buying gas for a long time worldwide would affect them but like that's ever going to happen. I am dreading the day coming very soon when it's going to be $5.00 a gallon.
