Gallbladder and addiction ?

Iv'e noticed alot of people on here are having their gallbladder removed. Just wondering if this could be in any way related to our addiction ?

I've seen more Gall Bladders removed to feed a Nation, and enough kidney stones to repave the old route 66....

Interesting, huh?.......

Mary,
Their is a rule of thumb for gallbladder disease. the 3 F's. Female, fat and forty. Gallbladder disease of course affects more than just those mentioned and of course I don't like the 3 F's. If GB disease and addiction were connected, their would be many forty something overwheight women at the pharmacy or waiting for their dealer to call them. I think that if you get enough people on here with addictions from all over the world, you will find that many share similiar medical problems. I think people talk about their GB surgeries or upcoming surgery for fear of the need of pain control and not relapsing. Just my humble opinion.

I honestly don;'t know. My mid section has been a plague on my existence my entire life. I've had kidney stones, ulcers, IBS, and now my gall bladder removed.

I won't be surprised if in a few years I suddenly pop out a baby just to add pain and insult to injury!!!

I know that studies haven't been able to determine if opiates themselves do any damage to the body organs, which means they probably don't (they've found it acutally prolongs/preserves life).

However, the additives that are in them...thats another story. Especially with street drugs.

I did not have an addiction, but I can tell you this much.  My gall bladder "died" for lack of better words, while I was on Fentanyl.  I had it removed.  I have a strong feeling that had I stopped the Fentanyl BEFORE it was removed, it would have come back to life so to speak.  I was also told I was hypothyroid, and I did develop a nodule on the gland, but still...Ever since stopping the Fentanyl, my thyroid functioning has returned back to normal.
