H1N1 Vaccine........Would you ? or Won't You?

Okay, guys.......I have been hearing things about the Swine Flu Vaccine.  I heard a statement that it is here and ready to be injected into your life.  I have also heard that Most Medical Professionals wouldn't get the vaccine.  Anyone know why??  And, when it is ready........are you ready?

Hey..I absolutely agree with taking tried and true medications. It makes sense sometimes to use drugs that have been through years or real world research when it is just as good as a supposed newer drug. I can see where a newer drug may be "better" such as the newer formulated antidepressants, but I still think the older ones should be taken and evaluated first. Sometimes, newer drugs are just different formulations meant to get the patent extended. Nexium and Treximet are two examples.

I guess your right about the flu shot and the new thing. I didn't know much about it until you explained it.   As far as medication ........I stand by my new thing. lol

They put my mother on this new diabetic insulin, said it also helps people lose weight.  It sure did too.......made everyone too sick to eat. lol  Then it was pulled off the market.  This has happened quite a few times with new different drugs and my mother.
The doctors have nothing to go on other than what the pharmaceutical salesmen tell them..........Tramadol isn't addictive..........no withdrawal from Suboxone.
It's sad but it's all about the all-mighty dollar anymore. I could rant for days about this and insurance companies too. lol

OK, I don't understand the "it's new argument". It's going to be a whole new shot every year. I mean, strains change every year. There's no two flu shots alike from year to year. That's how it works. It will NEVER be an old tried and true medication because the very way it works makes it change every year. I wholeheartedly agree with anyone's choice to have it or not. But, the "it's too new" argument just doesn't make sense to me.

I have talked to my sons concerning their kids and the H1N1 vaccine...also talked to my niece...she, her 10yr old and her Dad are all high risk...all have Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy..very rare...NO ONE IN OUR FAMILY WILL HAVE THE H1N1....To new...we will have regular flu shots...

On the same lines of what eagle said, the stuff that makes up the flu virus is no more different than what's in the polio virus. It's just the athe flu virus changes and mutates every year, while the polio virus doesn't. Plus, we're able to sequence the flu virus much quicker than the years of research it took to do the polio vaccine. They actually have no idea what strain will be the "big" one when it comes to the flu vaccine. It's just a big guess. If that strain hits you, and it's included in the shot, then you won't get the virus. Simple as that. The flu virus kills thousands of people every year, and thousands are saved by the vaccine as well. All therapies have some risk for adverse effects. But, by and large, it's very safe.

Well I sure cant say that the Federal Governement hasnt ever lied to me about anything......Vietnam always comes to my mind...........  But as for medical research - - I was as close to dead as they come.....in a full tilt isolation status when I found the clinical trial at Mayo that I volunteered for....... That trail was a full year of chemo shots every other day - yes, it was pretty rough.  But today I am alive and I have been able to enjoy my family and sons; when it didnt look like I would 14 years ago!!  Life is good and medical research has a place in the grand scheme of things....................

Really, Mary???  I have not heard that one yet........Lordy Jesus........Yeah, don't even get me started.

Since I live in NautyLand, I do have some paranoia with our government with things like:

1. i believe we do have the cure for the common cold & cancer, but greed motivates.

2. I believe that our government uses vaccines and such to prevent life extension.  Population extermination....I mean control if ya know what i mean?

3. I believe AIDS was concocted in a laboratory for the purpose of ridding IV drug users, gays and African Americans and any innocent bystander in its path.

I will never give a dime to medical research.  There is big money in disease, and I bet any researcher is paid big bonuses to discover new ones so one hand can wash the other at our expense....lol.......I will stop at that ......I could go on but will spare you.  I think you kinda get my drift...eh?

I think it really suks when a doctor knows something is bad, but will prescribe it ....Is it breakng the Hippocratic Oath ?......I think so.

I am in a high risk group and from what I understand about the vaccine I will take it. Remember that "new" doesnt mean "bad"...... and we have come a long way. It took five years to DNA sequence the AIDS virus......it took around five months for swine flu ..... the next challenge will probably be met in five days!

I'm fine with getting vaccines and such ...........it's just that I don't trust anything new on the market.  I think the FDA has been bought out by the pharmaceutical companies.  My mothers doctors keep putting her on new and improved medications (when she wasn't having a problem with the old) and most of them eventually get pulled off the market. Grrrrrrrrr
I won't take anything unless it's been out at least 5 years.  Can you believe they have a pill to take with your antidepressant to make it work.  How stupid are we ?   Of course they don't recommend changing your antidepressant ........they want you to take another pill on top of it.
Oh boy don't get me started............lol

I just think that we NEED to let our bodies take care of themselves.. Why inject something that we have NO IDEA of WHAT IT IS or WHAT IT WILL DO.. now OR later on in our lifes...

Like I said.. my husband got Guillian Barre back in the 70's from getting the "swine flu' shot.... I'm curious to see what the long run is gonna produce with this latest "flu vaccine"

It's refreshing to hear people saying "no" to getting it... and actually giving fairly sane, rational reasons for saying no. I share the same qualms as many of you, and will only get it if there is a serious danger of a spread of the infection.

I just spent the past day wading through page after page of conspiracy theory drek with people claiming that the whole flu vaccine thing is a government plot designed to kill off a large portion of the world's population (I'm possibly doing a video in it).

So... ugh... I don't know if I can handle that much crazy again.

nope, keep the needles away from me and my kids too!  I hated that they even had to have the normal childhood vax (MMR etc, ) but i did put my foot down and refused the chicken pox vaccine for them both. I had to fight with the doctor about this, and also the school when my youngest entered kindy. I ended up having to sign a waiver form and stuff, and if there is an outbreak of chicken pox in his school, he wont be able to go until its run its course.  But I really am scared of the vaccines especially the new ones.  I only had a flu shot once in my life, when i was about 20 yrs old and omg my arm hurt for like a solid week after that and I dont mean a little! it felt like someone had taken a sledghammer to it and you couldnt even brush it with a feather without it hurting worse! Plus i got "The flu" that year anyways, lol... so nope, theres no way we are getting the H1N1 vax here, we'll take our chances. in my opinion the cure is worse than the sickness

I've never got a flu shot and I'm not going to get this.  I've never had any of the flus that come around and everybody is screaming about getting the flu shot.  My doc says that since I'm a diabetic I should get it...but I've lived this long without it, why worry about it.

Regarding the vaccine for H1N1: yes, I'm concerned about the swine flu, but I'm weary of flu vaccinations for myself & son. 2 years ago my son & myself received the flu shot, within a day we were both very ill for about 2 weeks - could have been a coincidence that we ended up sick, but now I'm cautious about the shot. No way am I doing the injections again!
I hope everyone stays healthy, & H1N1 free here - best wishes!

Seeing as my husband got Guillian Barre back in the 70's (when the LAST SWINE FLU shot was around)  I say... NO HOW...NO WAY!  (plus.. I'm allergic to eggs... )

My feeling is ya just DON'T KNOW what the heck is IN the vaccine.. plus you NEVER KNOW until it's too late...

Just my thoughts on this GREAT TOPIC....

And, it's simply the dead virus that causes the different strains of flu. Your body doesn't know the difference between a live and a dead virus. To fight the dead virus, the body makes antibodies to fight it, even though it's not active. Then, if you get contaminated by the real virus, the body fights it off immediately.

The H1N1 vaccine will only be available to people in high risk categories such as health care providers, the elderly, and young kids. The regular flu vaccine will be made available to anyone. I'm going to get it simply because I have contact with many people every day. It's completely safe and I'd get the H1N1 as well if I could.

I don't trust anything new on the market in the way of medications etc.   They are always approved by the FDA and then a year later they find out it's killing people.
So how did you vote Nauty ???????
