HELP WANTED !!!!!
This is Really Hard for me to Post out here about this because we ALL have our issues in Life. I almost have a Year in but these are the kind of things in Life that can affect my Sobriety since I am still a Babe in the Womb. I wanted to post it here because this is the Community where it is has a lot of people from all over.
As most of You Know my Mom has been dealing with her return Cancer and goes to Chemo. Well she has been very positive and has been a Trooper about this so far.. BUT today she wants to give up. She has gotten down to 87lbs because she can not put her teeth in and she only has half a tongue. She can not taste anything and everything has to be in liquid or blended. Yes, she drinks lot of protein drinks and shakes. She can only eat soft food so it is very limited.
My Question is...What can she take to help her Gain Weight or get some Energy. What are some of the Foods that we can make up that are soft and can go down just like a baby with no teeth. BUT the hard thing is no or half tongue so it is really hard to eat food. She is so sick of ALL of this and being in pain that it does scare me to death that if we do not put weight on it will be sooner then later. I sure would Love to Hear any feed back regarding this.
I sure hope they do not move this because My own Sobriety is at stake..You know we can run but we can not hide. I know a lot of you have had some worse tragic things in your life as well, so I am no better then anybody else but I do need Support Right Now and I have no were else to Turn..

Just seeing this I am SOOO glad shes eating and drinking!! I am happy for you and her, I have been PRAYING!! and I am SOOOO Happy dad didnt have to move!! God is GREAT!! Stay clean :) We are PROUD of you too!!

Also I feel very Blessed that my God helped me to get Clean and handle these situations Clear Headed. I have been talking with My dad (which did not have to move) and he is accepting this all..he said he lived a long nice life and believes in God so much that he does not have much fear right now. We were able to talk about what we are going to do after. Alot of Friends and Family are coming up while he is better shape right now..I WILL NOT USE!! He is SO proud of me and told me so about a week ago..SO No Pitty Pottie for this Gal..Thanks Again. lol

He was with me for over 50yrs of my own life.We ALL did a lot of things together all the time. I brought him up here to live in the Assisted Living that I know only to well. I wish I could bring him home.There are many reason I can not because it is way out here for anybody to be called to get him in the winter.The way the house is to for a W/C. I feel really safe with him being able to stay at his home there. He is happy there so we will never move him out. He will be getting Hospice.

Thanks Alot Heather. Right now we are pretty Numb and Sad about my Dads Situation and she is so Down..I have to push the food on her. This really is hitting her bad where she does not want to eat. I will make up some of this. She will eat small things through out the day.

Milk shake recipe for cancer patients
A writer and friend of mine has graciously offered this milk shake recipe for patients who need extra calories and have a poor appetite. I think it sounds tasty, however the caffiene content may not be wise for younger children. As always, check with your family doctor before adding any new items to your diet especially while going through cancer treatments.
High Protein/High Calorie Shake Recipe
Mix in a bowl with a whisk (to decrease lumps):
2 scoops of vanilla Mus-L-Blast Body Building Formula
This product can be found at stores like Savon, and GNC. it is packaged in a large 52oz can.
1 can of Ensure Plus, Boost Plus OR Prosure
Prosure is not available in stores. It may be purchased on-line at: https://www.rosstore.com/store.cfm?Department=ensure&Category=Nutrition%20for%20Cancer&Subcategory=&OrderID=0
It is formulated for cancer patients to help build muscle, promote weight gain, and increase strength.
Add:
1-2 tablespoons chocolate sauce
¼ cup decaffeinated espresso or rich, dark coffee
Place in a blender with:
½ cup coffee ice cream
Use Starbuck’s, Haagen-Daz’s, Double Rainbow or other high calorie ice cream. One half cup of these contains 250 calories.
Blend until smooth. Store refrigerated and shake before use.
Notes:
I make 2 shakes at a time in the blender, three times (a total of 6 shakes) and store in the refrigerator to make it easier for me.
Experiment with amounts of coffee and chocolate sauce and types of ice cream. Starbuck’s makes coffee/Carmel, coffee/chocolate chip and coffee/mud pie ice creams.
My friend who started making these shakes says that the coffee/chocolate flavor is the best to cover the unpleasant taste of the ensure/prosure and protein powder. If you do not care for the mocha flavor you might try Strawberry Boost Plus with strawberry jam and ice cream OR vanilla Ensure with peach jam or sauce and peach ice cream. Be creative to adjust to your taste.

I can understand the whole "mad at the dr's thing". My anger with the dr's was a big reason I'm here with you now....
They're not God.... Sometimes I think we just expect more from them and are so disappointed when we don't get what we think we're due.... Well, let me say... There are many many doctors who could benefit from a forum just like this. Real life happening, every minute, right now. We put them so far up there, that when they fall, they fall hard. Go ahead and see your Mom's and your Dad's doctors as regular people. One thing I've learned is they don't know everything.... And it seems to me some of them are a little relieved to know we understand that....I'm praying for you and your family. As has been said.... Treasure every minute you get... Make it count

Where on earth did she find that show?! I remember watching that show when I was little with my grandma. Yes, I'm sure that there is a message there. There are messages everywhere, we just usually aren't listening for them.

Vic, I don't know why things tend to happen like this. All at once and it seems sometimes like the better we are trying to be and live our life, the more stuff goes wrong. Just know that you are strong and you can handle this, even if you don't feel like you can. If you find you have no more strength left, then fall back on your friends. We will hold you up for as long as you need. Please keep that strong faith that you have. It will help you to get through this and other tough times. I am sending positive vibes and prayers like crazy to you. Sending you a big, huge, moose hug too. A moose smoochie too! Love you my friend. Please hang in there.

Thanks Ricart. I called my Niece and she did not know what was going on. I thought my Mom had been talking to her..So then I had to give her a Double Whammy. She new about my Mom and chemo but did not know that she has lost so much weight. My Step Dad raised her and they are close so we all are meeting in the morning. I called my Biological dad and he lives next door to my only Brother and he will tell them. This is just to much. I know it will be SO Hard but we are all getting up there and it was going to happen sooner or later..Just SO dam mad at the Drs because my Step Dad has been having issues for years and they never checked when he was in CA. Now it is to late and they can not do anything because of his age and how bad the cancer has spread..Maybe God wants me to help Cancer Patience or something..I will Pray very Hard. Time to walk out in the Forest and talk to God..lol
Yes keep the faith Vic and keep the faith in yourself .Are there any of the people that you know at the meetings who can talk to you and that could maybe help out a little with this ? Hang in there my dear friend

When it rains it pours. I took my Mom to see the cancer Dr and told him all the things I picked up on here. Yes he agreed with her needing the calories most. Did not seem to be very knowledgeable about the food. I did ask him about a Med that would make her Hungry. SO he prescribed a Hormone pill (Progesterone). And he did ask if we wanted to see a Nutritionist..Well si*t now you ask after she lost SO much weight. What is up with these Fing Drs.

Vic when you make the shakes you can put kale spinach etc just add pineapple to get rid of the taste!! Add fresh fruit to the yougart just blend it first!! i see a common ingredient too peanut butter
