dang, this post just made me want to take a trip to one of these places and grab me up some seconal. pathetic, huh? but as gnarly said, we're the one's who take the pills.
it really is horrible these places exist...but not so much because they supply drug addicts. it's more because they reduce the credibility of REAL pain management. they also filter out any doctors who are truly concerned about keeping their patients comfortable but also keeping their drugs to a minimum. it doesn't do anything good for the treatment of pain at all.
the addict in me would love to visit one of these places....but ultimately i don't need to if i really want something. the choice is always in us. the true damage of these places is in what they do to the level of care people with real chronic conditions are getting. it's a shame.
HI Everyone.....as the pill epidemic grows in our country and O/D are up by 300% from last yr from prescription meds the DEA is starting to crack down on the pill mills so if your going to one its time to start to get clean b/4 yours gets shut down....this is a problem that will kill many more people destroy many more family's and continue to be a problem but it is being adressed nationally ....it was about 4 mo ago it was on 60min....now with dr drew on cnn ever night its no longer a secret to society....but always remember it is you the addict that swallows the pills
take responsibility for your own actions........Gnarly
I agree with udoschoices! San Antonio is the SAME way. I know a doctor you can go to without ANY problems or pain and get a script for norcos...that's RIDICULOUS! My father-in-laws doctor is the same way, pain clinic but he gets whatever he wants...he takes 4 methadone 3x a day as well as 4 xanax a day and 5 yellow norcos 4x a day. REALLY?! I lived with him and he just stays effed up ALLLLL day, and can't even talk or function at all really...he thinks it's because he's so bad, but it's because he's so DRUGGED!
my pain manegment clinic is really good they take all insurance's and really help you understand your pain they give you what you need but do not ask how many pills. Also my pain manegment Dr. ( like most ) he is an anatheseolgist but the good thing was when I had both of my spinal fussions he was the anatheseologist in the O.R. so he knew how bad my back is and he takes care of his patients he wants to know if you are taking to more and when you say yes he tries to figure out what is going on and helps with a holistic aprouch to his practice and when I went off of then he helped me with the withdawals and pain with several defferant approuches to non-narcotic pain control with NSAID patches mucsle relaxers. I have never been scared to tell him what I am going threw he really understands what these drugs due to you and helps in amy way he can.
Houston is same way... Cash, whatever you want.. Why you think it's legal?? BIG $$$$. Pharma companies making billions... One doc in Houston had 20 clinics and they busted him said he made $30 million
Just like Blue Magic from Frank lucas in American Gangster... But "legal"... Get your customers hooked, cash in
Way to go on throwing those dirty scripts away! I've heard Florida is the WORST when it comes to pill mills, and that Texas and a couple other states are pretty bad too. Here in Michigan it is NOTHING like that, it's the complete opposite. Pain clinics are kind of few and far between when compared to other places, I only know of 2 within a 1/2 hour of me (there could be more. They aren't "dirty", they take insurance and you have to go through mri's, X-rays, and other tests before you can get a vicodin.
They go to the exact opposite extreme here, my mother has 3 deteriorating discs in her back, sciatica, and was just diagnosed last week with M.S., and her doctors won't give her anything stronger than 4 norco a day! She's seeing a new doctor this week and leaving the pain clinic because she can hardly walk. I have a back injury that started me on the pills, and (lucky for me) even after surgery on it I was only offered vicodin and norco. Only once in my life was I ever offered percocet (I'm greatful they are over strict here or else I could have a lot more problems), and fortunately that was long before my addiction began and I turned it down.
The problem with this "other extreme" though is that people who need these medications and don't have addiction problems but do have VERY REAL chronic pain are unable to get the meds they need, and often turn to buying them off the street and overdose on something too strong. My friend has a very painful spinal disorder (I can't think of the name, but she's hunched over with a hump in her back and she's not even 40) and is only given tylenol 4, and has recently been self medicating with alcohol :( I'm very scared for her.
We also have a LOT of drug traffic due to this, people will go in groups down to southern states that have pill mills and bring the pills back here. There has to be a better way than these extremes some states giving narcotics out like candy while others look at you funny if you ask for motrin. I really think the medical field, and FDA need to get on this now!
