I do not have personal experience with Ultram, so I did a search and found a lot of information. Here is just thing I read:
Ultram is a narcotic-like pain reliever.
Ultram is used to treat moderate to severe pain. Ultram extended-release is used to treat moderate to severe chronic pain when treatment is needed around the clock.
It states that it is a "narcotic-like" pain reliever. I don't know for sure what that means. There is a website that I use to look up all my meds when my doctor prescribes me something. It is: www.drugs.com. You can go to the top of the page and do a search for Ultram. Also, there is probably a site for it from the manufacturer, like: www.ultram.com. Try google to find it.
Hello there.... Ultram is the brand name and the chemical is Tramadol. It is "narcotic like" because it gives the same results as narcotics but it's not extracted from Opium like most pain killers ( Vicodin, Etc).
They don't really know how it excatly works ( Just like tylenol )...but it works!
A lot of doctors think that it's not addictive..but it is really addictive. Years ago I abused Tramadol and was taking about 500 -1000mg / day. I quit it Cold Turkey and my W/D's lasted about 2 weeks.
And yes, you might have some side effects while on it ( Panic attacts at night, loss of appetite, nausea, headaches, etc...)
If it's not working with you, tell your doctor and ask him if he allows you to take it with Tylenol.
