How long will it take for a seizure from alcohol withdrawal

Hi there,

my boyfriemd is an alcoholic. He is trying to get a handle on it and has been trying to slowly decrease his intake. Had a bit of a set back over the last few week so has kinda gotten back into it a bit heavily. My question is how long would it take i.e. days etc for a seizure from not drinking happen roughly. He has had a seizure from this in the past, but his drinking was much heavier back then. But also had a temazapam withdrawal situation a few months back where he had around four seizures in one day. So I am a little afraid his brain may be a little sensitive at the moment. He is currently on Epilim (which is a eplilepsy drug) not for epilipsy but to slow down his racing mind. I'm not sure if this medication will help with withdrawal seizures???? Anyway the reason I ask is that he is living far away at the moment and on his own. He was going to go cold turkey tonight and most of tomorrow as he has no money to by himself any alcohol to make sure his body doesn't react. After his episode with the temazapm he really doesn't want to go through the seizure thing again.
Also what is the best way to slowly reduce your alcohol amount without the fear of seizures? He would on a good day drink around 2 litres of wine and maybe 1500mls of beer and possibly a few cans of a spirit/soda mix. He may have less than this and on his bad days he will have much more. Do you try half it each week???

any advice would be appreciated

hi, i dont really know much, but i have epilepsy and im also on epilim! i dont drink alot or often, but when i do thats what makes me fit, so im the other way around, if i go out on a good nite out and drink a bit, by the next morning wen i wake up, i will start juddering then they get worse, then i will fit, so it only really takes over nite for ur bady to suffer from the effects, hope this helps, and hope he stays off the drink, its not good when u suffer from this, xx i dont always fit when i drink! most of the time im fine, also depends on hormones with me!!! every case is different
