I was HOPE.....

Do you guys remember when Hope went through her liver issue?  Well, I am day three home from the ICU after the same happened to me.  I don't remember anything, I was two steps from heaven's door and the Lord kept me here for a reason.  I was hours from a transplant if things didn't clear up and I could still not pull through.  Friends and relatives were called to say what they needed to say, even though I wasn't coherant.  

Just a thought guys....I wasn't even using heavily when this happened and had even made a SUB appt for the 27th (dec)!  The acetamenaphin...builds in your system to a toxic level and you could be too far gone by that point.  I GOT LUCKY.   Do what you can do get control now, before it's too late.  I'm 14 days clean now and don't crave and feel like I have my personality back.  One heck of a way to do it, but it's done!  Oh yeah, they did say no tylonel or alcohol for now until they do the liver biopsy which is tomorrow....

Yes, wake-up call it was...Geez I sound like YODA..Anyway.  I realize what  I was doing to my body.  Nothing is w/o consequences.  But there are many that need to hear this story!  No one is immune...to the addiction or the effects!

Thank u 4 your sweet comment.  I do realize God has more plans for me.  I believe in medicine, but more importantly the power of prayer.  I had so many people praying I would make it that the Lord heard and answered.  My gosh, I just found out that a Dr in the ICU gathered all my family and friends and told them I could die w/ in hours.  No drama about it.  I feel horrible for putting them through this.  That's enough not to go back.  

How is Sally?  She is a lucky woman!  You have been amazing to her and US!  Thank you!

How much actimeniphen were you taking daily?  It really is a scary thing but if the pain is so great that I can't get through the day without it, I don't want to overdo it.  Thanks for your info.

Well, I'm not exactly sure, but here is what I can tell you.  I had already made a SUB appt for the 27th.  So I was trying to wean myselft down in amounts I was taking. (Little did I know I would end up in ICU before I ever say the 27th.)  So a couple days before c-mas I was taking about 15-20 5/500..vics.  

Please be careful.  I would like everyone to stop using now, but I know that's not entirely possible for everyone.  If you have an opportunity to request what you are taking, try to take a med w/o acet....I know there are a lot out there that don't have the tylenol in it.  There is also Vicoprofen which Ibuprofen doesn't filter through the liver, it's through the kidneys.....

In the future, I will need request these types of meds if I ever need to be on them....

Be careful and just try to make a plan to stop.....

Thank you for the information.  I do not take but 1 or 2 of the 500 hydros a day for breakthrough pain.  Some days I do not have to take any, but most I do to make it through the day.  My pain doc is working with me so I might get to the point of not needing any but I am not there yet.  I have really been stressed for a week or so and have had to take 4 for 2 days.  This is the first time that I have had to do this in about a year.  I do not feel that I have to have them when I don't have pain.  It is the fact that the pain is so bad that I cannot function at my job without something to help.  I am working on relaxation techniques and autogenics as well as the meds.  Maybe I will soon be to the point that I can go without something.  Until then . . . wish me well.

I believe that 1000mg is the largest single dose allowed and the total dose for the day is 4000mg of Tylenol.
