I think it is very important that you try to make your own version of homemade Mac & Cheese in the oven. I just watched it on TV and I am convinced that it would really really be super fantastic. You have to use a mixture of Cheddar and American cheese!
Thats what I'm making tomorrow night, for tonight though it's Dominals large sausage and bacon pizza! ha ha
I just now checked this thread. I'm actually eating a small container of yoplait peach yogurt and one of those hard honey and oats granola bars. I can't say I would be full thinking about or full even after eating it but boy is it good. This container has about 10x as many little peach pieces than what it normally has.
Pumpkinhead.....I hear ya about the wife and pizza. People often ask me why I always do the cooking. I just tell them that you would to if you wanted to eat. My wife does make a mean frozen pizza though. That is if you don't mind it burnt. If it weren't for pretzels and cereal she would have died of starvation before we were married. You would be amazed at what she can cook in the microwave and even more amazed that she eats it.
Lmao @ punkinhead!
Now I'm hungry for red lobster! And yogurt or maybe blue bunny icecream ? Mmmm
I will be having a small container of yogurt with granola.......I am full just thinking about it!!
Don't sell yourself short Vicki, I am going to try that Chicken and Spinach--I love both of them!!
I have a Forman Grill in the kitchen and I love it! It's FAST! The meat is delicious,I make everything with that. The meat cooks faster than baked and is usually all done before the vegetables. I've got it down to 5 mins prep time and 5 mins cook time and it's great. The secret for me is to make 2 things..nothing more...I can handle that. So, they have to be two good things.
IBK has good kiddo ideas...it makes me happy. I have NO imagination...in the kitchen.
My wife is cooking tonight. The delivery guy oughta be here with the pizza any minute now. LOL!!!!
Lol that's what I always tell myself. My father in law makes the best fried fish. Yum
Already got the tenderloin on. I just got one of those small center cut loins, not a half of a whole loin. It should take to long to smoke. Sometimes I'll just smoke the meat for 1 to 3 hours (depending on what it is and the size) and then finish it off in the oven. They meat only takes smoke in the first few hours of cooking so after that you're just cooking it and not so much smoking it.
I'm putting your quesadilla recipe on the menu for next week. Sounds great!
They said we may be getting some thunderstorms with the snow storm but when they say that they just mean lighting and thunder. If this happens we will get more than 8" of snow. It's a muddy mess around here now from that 15" of snow melting off. At least more snow will just cover up the mud. But then again that will make more mud. Last spring I hauled in some black dirt and leveled off the backyard. I packed it down real good with the bobcat and planted seed. The grass grew great but it still hasn't settled all the way. Take that water from the melted snow and throw a golden retriever into the mix I have a mud pit in the back now. I'm sure the grass will come up once we are up to 75 outside. The problem here is that isn't gonna happen for a few months! I think I may move my family and I in with you next winter Addict. Then you can just cook for us and I won't have to worry about supper! I'm so ready to go back to work. Usually winter is our busy season but it wasn't this year. Hopefully work is just a few weeks away.
Kelseago....sounds delicious! I like baked fish but I love it fried! I know, not healthy that way at all. If I eat all my veggies will that make up for the fried fish I eat?....lol
I'm baking fish in a white wine butter sauce with brussel sprouts and steamed squash. Yum!
You had better hurry if you are going to have that tenderloin tonight!
Try browning some ground beef onion, bell pepper, jalapeno pepper, little touch of garlic, bit of chili powder, just a hint of cumin.......really, whatever you like,Then in a heavy skillet put a dob of butter, or, butter a flour tortilla. Then heat that side, put a spoon full of your seasoned meat in the middle with cheese, etc. fold the tortilla in half brown both sides and you have a quesadilla.
You can use corn tortillas and have tacos and you can use chicken or any good cut of beef even fish. Kids love it!
I feel ya on the snow.....this 75 degree weather is bringing storms in tonight! lol!
I'm leaning towards smoking a pork tenderloin with some baked potatoes, asparagus and rolls. I wish it were summer so I could walk out to the garden for my veggies! Instead they are calling for 6-8 inches of snow. (I don't wanna hear it Addict!...lol)
My wife loves Red Lobster. I do like it although I got spoiled with fresh seafood when I was stationed in Okinawa Japan and it's hard to find quality like that here in Central IL. We do have a seafood store about a half hour from my house and they fly fresh seafood in everyday. I'd rather buy from there and cook our own. It is kinda expensive but still cheaper than eating out. So Addict, skip Red Lobster and McDonalds and come on over for dinner. Since I only do it about once a year I'll wait for you. (I here you about McDonalds!)
Vicki...too damn healthy for this guy!
IBK.....Our grocery store's beef is awful. I never buy it from there and don't wanna drive out of town to get any. I will put that on the menu for next week.
We had pasta last night but they both sound great!
I'm making homemade pizza tomorrow night. It's my wife's birthday and that's her request. I have a great dough recipe for a thin and crispy crust. The trick for a great pizza is to get some terra cota tiles, take out the bottom grate of the oven and line the bottom with the tiles. Crank the oven up to 500-550 and let the tiles and over preheat for about an hour. Cook the pizza directly on the tiles for about 10-15 minutes or take out right before the cheese starts to brown. It tastes just like a pizzeria.
I never knew local pizzerias would sell just their dough. I might have to try that sometime!
After reading over my message I see I look like a picky little brat!...lol
Red Lobster? YUK, I am not even sure that is food!! LOL
I remember you asking about kid friendly foods. Now, every time I cook some kid friendly, I think of that post.
It is probably too late for today but how about California Burgers and some kicked-up Mac & Cheese. The burgers will give you all your veggies and you can play with the Mac & Cheese. I try it with different types of cheese combos and I like to slice tomatoes over the top and sprinkle it with bread crumbs before baking it. Yummy!!
Chicken Scampi over Linguine. That's a quick one and delicious.
You can go to any local pizza place and buy dough. Make individual pizzas and you can make each different. That's fun. Pizza night at Brian's house!!! I'll bring the Pepsi!!!
I like Vicki's recipes too....maybe I will go there. I can't decide....
I like Red Lobster.
But more often than not,due to finances, I have to go to McDonald's! LOL!
Deciding what to make for dinner is my bete noire, then shopping for, it cooking it...it gets boring. That's why I put us on a diet quite frequently.
I'd love to help you out so here's what I'm having today:
Lunch- Grilled cod (takes 3 minutes)
Broccoli; steamed with lemon juice and sea salt
Supper- Baked chicken breast with Tuscan seasoning ( out of a bottle)
Spinach tossed in apple vinegar and steamed
