I'm so addicted...

To this video game called World of Warcraft.  It is an MMORPG, which stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.  My girlfriend left me because I forgot about our anniversary and my boss fired me for playing World of Warcraft during business hours.  I recently sold my car so that I can keep playing.  I tried quitting one time but I couldn't sleep for a week.  I simply cannot stop.  Please help!

I <3 wow too, but I can relate somewhat to your predicament.  I've played wow for the last 2 yrs - I've always been an avid RPG'er - and, while I haven't sold my car, lost my job or girlfriend over it, I do play practically every day.  I will play and the hours will fly by.  An addiction clinic in Switzerland recently opened - the first of its kind - dedicated to helping gaming addicts.  This is becoming a socially recognized and scientifically acknowledged addiction in society today and, though not a mind altering compound, something is occuring in the minds of avid (maybe even addicted) gamers that compels them to repeat the behavior.  If this is a serious post and you indeed feel compelled to continue in this somewhat destructive behavior - I suggest you seek out treatment (perhaps along the lines of that for gambling addiction) for yourself.  Good Luck.
