Interesting stuff. Ive never heard of the Ketogenic Diet until this thread. I have PsA so am always looking for dietary stuff to help. I looked it up to see what it is and it said high fat, adequate protein, low carb diet. I do the low fat, low carb, minimal dairy, no sugar diet right now. What kind of fats are they talking about? The treatments (Humira, Methotrexate, ect) are the same for RA and PsA so Im thinking dietary treatment may be similar. In terms of supplements, I do the high doses of Tumeric and Krill oil.
Oh thank you my dear friend! I will take a look at it. Love u honey! U r the best!!!
Hey J, if you type into google "Rheumatoid Arthritis The Worlds Healthiest Foods"
a great informative sight will come up.
Weaver is correct about the no gluten.
My 6 yr old has Celiac's Disease and this and arthritis are part of the same family.
My nan had the worst case of RA and so does my mum, while i have RA as well but not too bad at moment, my daughter is Celiac.
As a rule, one or the other will certainly be passed down from mother to child.
Unless of coarse, arthritis was caused from a different nature.
Oats, wheat, barley and Rye (gluten), will actually cause an arthritis flare up.
Hope the web site helps xx
I am going to try the Paleo diet. I have a friend who also has RA and swears by it. I have done a modified version of it this week and I have no inflammation left. Last week I couldn't walk. I did do four days of prednisone but I think it's a combo.

Thanks Lu - I have had a "flare up" for about 7 months now. Most days in pretty debilitating pain. Love when I get a short round of steroids and feel normal for a week. I keep pushing thru and have an appt with another RA Dr in Feb. I do stay as active as I can. I have just been researching anti-inflammatory diets and ketogenic...just trying to see if others have had any specific help with ketogenic for RA or otherwise. Any dietary input would be welcomed. Thanks so much!
Hey Jugglin!
I didn't know you have RA. I do too. I will PM you the diet that kept me in remission for 5 years. I am having a flare right now (sent to ER last Tuesday because I couldn't walk) so I am paying extra attention. It's late now so I will PM you tomorrow

Relatively high intake of Omega fatty acids helps with my bipolar and joint issues. I also don't do a lot of carbs, other than whole grains. I suppose I naturally am doing the ketogenic diet and it does help. Avoiding glutton has made it where carbs are not a major part of my meals.
I wish I could help honey. Sorry.
Thanks IBK..they don't have the same support so I thought I would start here. Just as a "general" question.:)
You should ask to have this post moved to the Arthritis community. I think you would get better responses.
