Klonopin withdrawal

I have been on 2mg of klonopin 4x per day for at least 2 years.  I have tapered down to 1mg per day and haven't had any in 3 days.  I have been on so many combos of antidepressants and antianxiety meds over the last 6 years I can't even remember them all.  Last year in March I decided I was going to taper off of everything.  I had ECT at that time and it didn't work so I just decided to gradually rid my body of all the meds. I was on 5 different meds at the time and found an additional 12 bottles of different meds that I had been taking at one point or another that hadn't worked. Anyway.....Klonopin is the last to go.  But, after 3 days without it I feel like I am having an out of body experience for lack of better words.  Also, my hands and feet are tingling and I feel like there are bugs crawling all over me.  I don't recall ever coming off of a med and feeling like this....what is going on and how long with this last?????!!!!!!   This is horrible.

You know, I also had the same "out of the body experience" c/t the valium.

That is the reason I am on .5mg of Klonopin...because it is a medication designed for that.

But you can not just walk away from them!

I got so disslutional, I did not know where I was, shaking, felt like I was not my self...and that I was going to lose it...when I tried to c/t...so I called my doctor, and he immediatly called in a refill, and from there I had no choice to to back on the Valium...and start w/ a very good, slow and carefull taper plan, and it worked....it just takes time.

I am 100% sure that you are going to have to take them again, just to get you brain functioning normal.....and after that, you sit down, and research and develop a good taper plan for the medication.

DO NOT be ashamed if you need to take the Klonopin...I would personally if I were you. That way, you can get re-established, and talk w/ your doc, or look up different websites on how to slowly taper....but you can not do that w/ the way your feeling right now...believe me, I know what it feels like to have the very w/d's and experience what you are experiencing right now!

Lots of love to you,
Todd

Welcome...your prior dose of klonopin was very high, and i was up to almost that amount too...But long story short, i went c/t from them and the out of body experiences were terrible...I know exactly how you feel

first, did the doctor help you taper?  and when u got to 1mg, did he say to get off at that?
If i were you i would of tapered that 1mg down to nothing with a pill cutter...
Please keep posting and let us know how you are feeling..
PLEASE remember these are dangerous, if u really feel bad u may need to go into the ER, ...

Hi,

I know exactly how you feel. I used to be on 25 (10mg) Valium a day, along w/ Ambien.

I tried to c/t one time, and almost had a seizure! Benzo's are very dangereous....and you should have a good taper plan.

Currently I take .5mg of Klonopin a day for panic attacks, and have over 2 years managed to taper my valium count down to basically 1 or 2 at night.

Be real carefull, and do NOT recommend cold turkey any benzo! They can do severe damage.

A good person to chat w/ is R2R about the Klonopin.

I will try and get her over her for you.

God Bless,
Todd
