Last Hope

I posted this on another forum, but it doesn't get as much traffic as this one and I am getting pretty desperate.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I feel sure this question has probably been asked and answered, but I don’t think I can sit still long enough to go through all the treads to find it.  Therefore, I am going to ask and hope I get an answer.
I had a partial hysterectomy in 2006 and still have my ovaries.  My question (or should I say questionS) is will I go through menopause earlier, and if so, how do I know?  I don’t know if I am just going plain mad or what, but I am truly out on the ledge here.  I have had a major headache since Tuesday and do not want anyone to talk to me.  No matter what is said to me, I get emotional and fly off the handle.  Friday I didn’t go to work and sat in the bed the entire day (awake, not sleeping) without the television, computer or talking to anyone.  My blood pressure has been perfect, and medically the headache is the only problem.  I just can’t control my emotions.  I alternate between crying and anger for no apparent reason.
If anyone could offer any advice, PLEASE tell me!
Thanks
~Susan
I would say get your levels checked. I had one as well along with one ovary removed .They have checked my levels about every two years so far the one is doing just fine . I dont think it would a bad idea to have your thyroid levels checked as well
i have been a gyn nurse for too many years. a partial hysterectomy will not result in earlier menopause.
it is fairly early for you to be in menopause or even premenopausal. there is a blood test that will tell you exactly how far you are. there should be no reason for you to be on estrogen unless that test indicates your hormone levels are suffering. even then most doctors will advise against it unless the symptoms are severe.
the test is a blood test. it is a FSH (follicle stimulating hormone)
thanks guys.  The gyn that did my hysterectomy moved out of state and I haven't seen one since (I know, shame on me).  I turned 41 this year and know I need mammograms as well as continued pap smears.  As a general rule, I just try to avoid doctors in general.  I have to go to Wal-Mart this afternoon and I think I will get the prempro.
Again, thanks girls
Hi,
I worked for an ob/gyn for 17 years, I don't know everything but I do know if you still have your ovaries you won't go into early menapause, I don't know how old you are but I am 50. I never had surgery but my menapause started when I was 47. Being emotional is a big part of it but also night sweats, hot flashes. being iritiable and the hot flashes were the worse for me. I take prempro dailey now and feel much better.
Only bloodwork can measure the level of hormones in your system to tell the dr if you are in premenapuase, full blown menapause or not at all.
Call your dr on Monday and make an appointment, Only your dr can really help you with this one.
good luck to you
I also had a hysterectomy , just like yours, and i was told that i would not go into early menapause...SO far i have not, only life....I think what you are feeling is maybe just that , maybe with some depression...
But then again, how would we know it is menapause or not?  They say go by age, but everyone is different from the ones i have talked too...I sure hope you feel better..
you have been through so much......
take care
I suggest you see your gynecologist asap for something.  A doctor might could give you hormone supplements or something to help with these mood swings.
That is probably your best bet.
