Methadone Clinic

Is there an alternative to going to the methadone clinic.  I have a very dear friend that goes there and he is having some problems.  For one he isn't sleeping and as of today he might lose his job.  He fell asleep on lunch break and slept over by 13 minutes so they sent him home.  If he loses his job he no longer can afford to go to the clinic, and that would mean he would have a greater chance of relapsing.  Is there anything he can do that would help him sleep and keep him clean?

One of the several alternatives would be to find a physician that could prescribe for him. This may not be easy since MD's may not maintain an addict. They may prescribe methadone for pain .... if he has any type of pain issues this may work.  

Sleeping through a lunch period may indicate that he is doing enough to catch a buzz.  And it may indicate poor sleep patterns at night. Benadryl is a good otc sleep aid. Trazadone is a good RX.

The ball is entirely in his court. He will only be clean when he wishes to be clean.

my husband lost a great job doing this.....he tried suboxone bit nodded out on that as well
he is a pharmacutical engineer, not the type of job that you can go nod for a couple of hours
and it would surprise you how many people in my profession do this

maybe your friend should check into detox, goto some na meetins
i am working the steps with a girl on 32mgs of sub.
it drives me crazy when she nods out
but i still believe she is getting something out of it
and i cannot judge anyone
i had to wear a neck brace, due to a nodding neck injury...hehe, i am serious
and my husband almost killed my child when he feel nodded out on methadone driving my car

when accused of nodding, i would always say "i am thinking, leave me alone"

People nodding off usually means they are overmedicating. He could try the switch over to Suboxone and then taper down from there. Is he in any kind of support system?
