My son showing signs of addictive behavior

OK I am confused. just to give a little background of my life, I was adopted when I was around 7 yrs old. both my parents were drug addicts. We were taken away from them when I was about 5 and then put in foster system and then found a home.  I kept in touch with my dad and he OD and died when I was 16 yrs. I have 2 brothers I tried to keep in touch with and one just got out of jail and the other is addicted to drugs.  Now my husband and I were both on the same meds for awhile, he only took his for pain, I took mine alot longer than needed and became addicted. I am well on my way to recovery. My little boy is 10 yrs old is ADHD with aggression. He also has a few more mental conditions. He has been expelled from school as of Friday. He is on Risperdal, Clondine, and Concerta. He has made comments about wanting to take a lot of medicine cause he just wants to sleep for a long time and not deal with his sisters. He depends on his medicine just to make it through the day. He will say on weekend if you don't give me my meds I am gonna go crazy. I have caught him trying to get to his meds, that are in a top cabinet in my kitchen. His peds doctor doesn't take me serious. Is it possible that he is on way to an addiction behavior. Is is possible that I got mine from my parents. I mean is this just a cycle that won't stop. So confused on what to do

I agree Like I said it was So if you can get him into it i would .Like U said if its out of control now come 13 or 14 you are going to have major problems on your hands.Since you have seen him trying to get into his meds when he should not i would get a lock box for them and keep them in there because that is scary .I hope things get better its hard to watch your child having such are hard time .

well my son actually started meds in preschool, he was uncontrollable. The concerta made him wake up in the morning, the Risperdal calmed him down somewhat and the clondine put him to sleep. He does have mood changes through out the day, but the funny thing is if he is by himself he is a perfect child, not hyper not aggressive nothing. He is on a strick schedule at home (mostly because of me) and when he schedule is late or early he loses all control so yea I could say he is ocd. it is just one of things where he can get uncontrollable at age 10 what happens when he is older. I think I might need to get him in counsiling, Great my whole family will be in counsiling before long LOL

It almost sounds more like depression and he thinks the pills will fix it ...does he have any ocd tendencies .my son was adhd when he took the Concetta he showed more aggression then they put him on the Risperdal took if off everything else. He started meds in K I got him into a play therpaspit as well as the meds bu the end of second grade he was able to go off meds all together .Now he is still hyper he runs all over but besides that he is great .I really think even though it seems like addiction ii could be depression either or is he getting therapy if not I cant tell you what a major difference it made it my sons life. I think if he had not gotten it he would still be on meds.
