OFF TOPIC..What animals do you have?

Hi guys!
Something new to discuss, and as an animal lover, I'm really interested to know...what animals do you have (or want) and what specific breed??
I am a dog person, really. 101 Dalmations thread earlier made me think to make up this post...We have a dog. He is a French Mastiff ( same kind of dog that was in the movie Turner and Hooch). He is two years old, and his name is Boss. He is HUGE. He DOES NOT like strangers, but wants to eat them, lol, but is very, VERY protective of our family, esp me and my son, and my hubby works alot, so it makes me feel safer than my alarm system EVER could.
It is kinda cute...when someone comes over that Boss doesn't know very well, he will literally go over to my son and sit in front of him, almost ON him, and won't let anyone near him. The weird thing is, although he doesnt like strangers, he LOVES kids, even when their strangers. I swear to God, it's like he knows it's his job to protect ALL kids. He also LOVES other dogs, even though the Mastiffs have a reputation for not getting along with other dogs.
When we go down to the cape, we have to wait until early morning or late evening to bring Boss down to the beach, because he scares the SH*T out of everyone. See, he'll only try to attack strangers that that come onto our property or approach us ( well, he has never tried to attack, per say, lol, but gets into position). But when he runs around on low tide, he goes up to everyone and runs around them...he has literally sent people screaming and running down the beach, not to mention he's REALLY pissed people off down there, lol, so out of respect we NEVER bring him down at certain times of the day.
Anyways, I love this dog to death! He is awsome! I am one of those people who gets very attatched to animals, lol. So tell me about your dogs/animals!!

ok, i have a Yorkie in the house, he is my baby...i have a 2 --3legged cats thats i adopted..i have 2 labs outside...i love dogs the most too...LOVE THEM..IN face i own a hair salon, and i would love to go to school and learn to groom dogs instead..My husband thinks i am nuts...

I went through esthetic school while in college ( only one class left to get my bachelors in psych at UNH) because I always wanted to be a makeup artist, but my parents would only pay for esthetic school if I stayed in college. I am a liscened esthetician, but only do make up. I do about ten weddings a year, plus proms and events for all my dad's friends wives...I do pretty well, considering it's only by word of mouth! My best friend also owns a hair salon, and we refer clients to one another! That's really cool!!

I have a very spoiled tiny cocker spaniel name BeBe'. She is my shadow and I love her to death!!! I love all animals and wish I lived in a zoo. I would like to be little Bindy Irwin and have always liked to watch Jack Hannah.

Hi Bud! Oh, but you do live in a zoo, my dear...you have 5 kids!!!!!!!!! LOL, totally kidding with ya, just love to tease you about having so many kids...not many of us could do it, but you do!! I love cocker spaniels! My aunt has one that has gotten really snobby in her old age, lol. All she does is follow my aunt around and pass gas!!

Lol, my cocker is very strange. I thought that she had a hearing problem and had her checked out. She just ignores me when it suits her. LOL  She is a sweety and everyone loves her. She kisses the vet and groomer. She is the only happy dog I have ever seen go to the vet. She goes right to the cookie bin and begs. If someone comes in and ignores her, she makes this wooo wooo sound until they pat her. She loves watermelon, strawberrys, green beans (raw), aspargus (raw) and just about any fruit of veggie. She doesn't like citrus of rubber cheese. If you give her a sharp Vermont cheddar, she will wolf it down.

... i have a cat.  he was a rescue a little over 2 years ago... i think he's anywhere between 7-9 years old, but no one knows for sure..

he is certifiably insane, too.  i'm not kidding, the cat is nuts.  i tell people this - how funny he is, etc. etc. - and they think "hmm.. poor cat lady..."  then, like recently, my bro stayed with me for awhile.  after watching my cat, he admitted "your cat is insane."

and people tell me he really is the cutest guy they've ever seen... he is.  he a crusty ol crazy fart who looks and acts like a kitten, but he really is just a crusty ol' codger.. :-)

I have 6 dogs.  One I trapped cuz it was acting feral  while circling my house and yard and had a gaping wound on his leg.  I tricked him into my yard and slammed the gate.  He ate, drank some water, and about an hour later walked up to me and I said "sit" and he did.    Weird.  He is a shephard mix with rott markings and is about 80 lbs.  He speaks, sits, lays down, all on command, never could find out where he came from.

Pugsley is 90 lbs and is a pound rescue.  He has bowed front legs, longer back legs, bulging eyes, missing one fang, and an underbite.   He is shaped like a square and marked like a panda bear.


3 weenies - Dachshund #1 is Bailey - liver colored and white spots.  He is my baby and spoiled rotten.   #2 Honey - supposed mini but has grown into a 20 lb bologna looking big girl.   Very sweet, not the sharpest tack in the shed, has an overbite on top which makes it hard for her to actually pick up a slice of bologna from the floor.   #3 Babylisa - Blk and tan female, super long, almost freakishly long dachsie.  She climbs trees and has one extra nipple.

Abby - terrier mix.  She was my mom's dog.  She sits and looks at me and my dogs with disgust as if she is waiting for us to go home and for her mom to come back.

Then of course I have one hamster left over from the kids' hamster phase and then the other either pregnant or very fat female hamster I just got from a student.


I love cats but unfortunately my youngest son is allergic so for the first time in my life ever, I can't have a cat.

I currently have only one dog of my own,  She is a little chihuahua named Button, because when i adopted her my youngest daughter said she was as cute as a button.

Although there is only one animal in the house right now, that could change at any moment with the ringing of the phone.  I am a big supporter and work very closely with our local humane society.  As a matter of fact, I am a foster home for special needs dogs until they can get on track and be adopted out.  So my husband never knows what he will see when he walks in the door.  This is a very fulfilling job that I have and I just love it.

I meant to say in my last post that most us us COULDNT do it, not could do it, sorry, but you know what I meant. And I love sweet dogs like that!! Everyone things its gross but I put part of Boss's treats ( ummm, yes human treats, he won't touch dog food now, unfortunately) in my mouth and he eats them from my mouth, lol, i know, gross! Boss loves to kiss, but he drools soooo much! I am constatnly cleaning, lol, but wouldn't trade him for the world!

I swear dogs can sense human feelings. I guarantee that dog KNEW you were saving him, and loves you more than ever for it!!!!

Holly, what an awsome person you are being a "foster parent" for animals!!! That is so cool! To add to the craziness that Tim and I happen to be spreading about ourselves, lol, I have always felt a special connection with animals, but dogs in particular, that I can't really explain. It's like the moment I meet them, even the most skittish dog will warm to me immediately and I love them almost right away. It's like...( ok, now I'm going to REALLY sound crazy...maybe the drugs from the ER last night are still in my system, lol) but it's like I can FEEL a dogs love, and a dog can FEEL my love, even dogs I meet on the street, pet for a minute, and never see again. It's actually kind of dangerous, because even seeing pit bull or other dog with bad reputations, it's almost like I can SENSE their personality and whether or not they're safe to handle ( don't hold that against me when I post next week that a pit bull ate half my face). I can't explain it without sounding nuts, so I'll stop trying, but it's like a connection that most people don't have, even some dog lovers, with dogs. Does that make sense? If it makes sense to you, then you belong in the mental ward with me, lol.

First of all Hi, How are you doing? Haven't really got to talk too much to you lately. Hope everything is going good for you.

Okay - here are my animals, I have 3 dogs, 5 cats, (2 of them are babies), and 2 birds...
I had 3 horses too, but just recently got rid of them, and i miss them so so much! The one was a colt and he was born disabled at birth and he had an operation and it went bad, and he got an infection so they had to put him to sleep. That was so hard to watch, after his operation he had to stay in the vets care and we would go over and sit with him and we had to bottle feed him, he was suffering bad, we had no choice but to have him put to sleep. Don't think i had ever cried so hard in my life. I remember sitting with him, telling him good bye...Ok - got tears in my eyes now, just from talking about it...
Ok, i have 3 dogs, a doberman (who is such a baby) and i have a jack russell terrior, and a cocker spaniel..My doberman is 3 years old, and before we got him, i was so scared of them kind of dogs, told my husband, that i do NOT want him. I was scared to death, but let me tell you he is nothing to be scared of, he is the BIGGEST baby i have ever met. My Jack Russell Terrior is 8 years old, i got her for my son right after my first husband left us. My son wanted her so bad, so i gave in and got her. I just love her to death. My cocker spaniel, is beautiful, she is 4 years old...My dobermans name is Zues...Jack Russell's name is Lucky, and Cockers name is Cinnamon. My 2 birds names our dumb and dumber...LOL and my cats names are Bingo, Keebler, and Nikita...Haven't named the babies yet, cause we are not keeping them.

So there you have it, the story of my animals...Thanks for asking that question, sometimes it makes ya feel good talking about other things on here other than just addiction.

I had a tea cup Yorkie named Tulip. She thought she was a doberman. I had her for 15 yrs and she was just a sweetheart. She is buried on our property and surrounded by flowers. She was the bravest dog I ever had. I jumped into the Saco River in NH and she came right in after me. The rapids are pretty strong there. I also had a Mini Collie (Shelty) named PepsiCola and I have her ashes. She lived to be 16. I also had a snauzer and she was a strange little one, she lived to be 14. I loved all my dogs and wish I could have more. My wife only wants one dog now, we always had two.
