Obama rally was great !

Obama rally was great !

Magi and I went to the Obama rally yesterday.  There was over 30,000 people there and the energy was incredible !  We thought we were going to get there early enough to get up close, wrong. The line was unbeliveable.  I can't even describe the good feeling it gave me.  Black and white people coming together like I've never seen.  It was awesome !
This man really has a way of spreading love and compasion, and such a talent for bringing people together.
I also like the way he doesn't let us (the people) off the hook. That it's up to us, to start paying attention and make sure our voices are heard.  Many, including myself,  have sat back for too long while Washington has run-a-muck.  It's time to take our country back from these big business crooks.
(just thought I'd share)

Well... generating euphoric happiness and togetherness in the masses is an admirable trait.

If he wins...I just hope he can do the job. Considering the people's track record over the last two decades in terms of voting, I'm not about to get my hopes up with any candidate the popular vote picks..

i am a republican but we do not have a good canidate. But the thing about obama or clinton is they both have gimick. You either vote for the first "black" or first "lady" popular votes and gimick votes drive me nuts. If neither race nor gender was brought up I would feel fine actually voting democrat. But nah both playing there gimick.
Blank
306867_tn?1299253309
Gender and race are not gimmicks.  They were born that way. lol    People need to forget the color and sex and go to all the canidate's  web sites and see where they stand on issues.  They also have Vote Match. Where you answer how you feel about certain issues and it matches you with a canidate.
I really think if more people voted on issues and not within party lines, we would realize that we are more alike than different. If they did away with republican and democrat we would all be better off. These parties just seem to divide our country.

I agree with you, but we are in the "real world" here. There is no way to overlook the candidates One is a woman the other a black man.  This is definitely a History making election.  It's not a gimmick.....it is what it is.  The sad part about it is ....when Osama Obama takes it......he WILL LOSE......we've seen this before and will see it again.  There will be no President that is African American.  McCain will be our next president, and that is what is killing me, because it will be like another term for Bush.  Nothing will change, except the fact that things will get worse.  Hillary was our only chance to break thru this mess--we have to be realistic. She would have been the most likely democratic candidate to get elected.  I hope Obama wins this just for the Demo's......but thats it.  But, when push really comes to shove......the likelihood is not good..........ugh

Wow and this is 2008!   A bi-racial man, son of a white woman, raised by white grandparents and yes obviously fathered by a black man can not be president of the USA.   Because his skin is too dark?   Too bad no one noticed Bush's ears were too big.

Regardless of who wins the primaries and regardless of who becomes president of your United States, this is a positive breakthrough for people of all colors and gender. The mere fact that a woman and a black man have stirred the imagination of not only the United States but people all over the world could very easily be the first step forward  to total equality. It is time that we see not gender or color but the person and what she/he is composed of. For too long the world has been
seperated by racism, sexism and bigotry.

I find it absolutley inconceivable that anyone, at any level of intelligence can still think Pres. Bush is anything other than deceitful, arrogant, coniving, egotistical, selfpreserveing dictator. And McCain is exactly the same. There would be not difference if McCain becomes president. By now anyone who voted for GWB should realize they used bad judgement voteing for him, and should seriously question weither their judgement has gotten any better since the Bush mistake. This country will not hold up under a 3rd term of Bush/McCain. Just because some people don't like Obama or Hillary is no reason to vote for McCain and flush this country down the toilet. At least vote for Barr or write in some other candidate.
If people can't educate themselves on the issues, without looking at color, gender or political party, they should just stay home on voteing day, because they just don't have enough common sence to vote.
And anyone who will not vote for Obama or Hillary just because of race or gender, should move to a country where women are still bare-foot, pregnant and subserviant and where black people are still slaves. Prejustice is bred from stupidity.
If your voteing for McCain, you're voteing against the American people.

1. Violating the United Nations Charter by launching an illegal "War of Aggression" against Iraq without cause, using fraud to sell the war to Congress and the public, misusing government funds to begin bombing without Congressional authorization, and subjecting our military personnel to unnecessary harm, debilitating injuries, and deaths.

2. Violating U.S. and international law by authorizing the torture of thousands of captives, resulting in dozens of deaths, and keeping prisoners hidden from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

3. Violating the Constitution by arbitrarily detaining Americans, legal residents, and non-Americans, without due process, without charge, and without access to counsel.

4. Violating the Geneva Conventions by targeting civilians, journalists, hospitals, and ambulances, and using illegal weapons, including white phosphorous, depleted uranium, and a new type of napalm.

5. Violating U.S. law and the Constitution through widespread wiretapping of the phone calls and emails of Americans without a warrant.

6. Violating the Constitution by using "signing statements" to defy hundreds of laws passed by Congress.

7. Violating U.S. and state law by obstructing honest elections in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006.

8. Violating U.S. law by using paid propaganda and disinformation, selectively and misleadingly leaking classified information, and exposing the identity of a covert CIA operative working on sensitive WMD proliferation for political retribution.

9. Subverting the Constitution and abusing Presidential power by asserting a "Unitary Executive Theory" giving unlimited powers to the President, by obstructing efforts by Congress and the Courts to review and restrict Presidential actions, and by promoting and signing legislation negating the Bill of Rights and the Writ of Habeas Corpus.

10. Gross negligence in failing to assist New Orleans residents after Hurricane Katrina, in ignoring urgent warnings of an Al Qaeda attack prior to Sept. 11, 2001, and in increasing air pollution causing global warming.

Just one thing Obama has done.
Lugar-Obama Initiative........Introduced in the Senate by Obama in 2006 and enacted in 2007. He got this passed in the Senate despite the love Republicans have for nuclear weapons. Paul, can you name one thing McCain has voted on in the Senate in the past 4 years, he has not flip/ flopped on? He also was too busy last week to vote on the new GI Bill. He thinks it is bad to give our troops a free education if they serve three years in War. McCain is anti troops and Veterans.

George Bush has admitted to tapping our phones and computers without a court order.
Next week, Karl Rove will be the 4th piece of garbage in this administration to refuse to testify before Congress to protect the Bush Crime Family.
You say Mary is quoting a lefty web site. You sound like you get the Right Wing Talking Points from Rush and Hannity~~~~~~~~~~

Bill had nothing to do with Bush. It got enough votes to be Veto Proof. In any case, Paul asked for one thing Obama did in the Senate. That is just one bill he is responsible for.
And yes, McCain is a Veteran. BUT, he still did not vote on the new GI Bill. He opposes it. Bush says hes for the troops also. Thats while they are fighting in his so called War(occupation). When they get home, the troops have to fend for themselves.
Bush and McCain are joined at the hip............

Why aren't we as mad at Clinton when he sat on his hands when Osama had our USS Cole Carrier and our American Embassy in Africa and Osama said he'd be back for more? How come we're not mad at Clinton?

Osama's path:
First World Trade Center Bombing '93
Bombing Saudi Towers killing 19 service men '96
US Embassy Africa Bombing '98
USS Cole Bombing '2000

Cinton years '93 - 2001

Clinton Years...1993-2000
Eight Years of peace and prosperity.
I think you made a good point Newgirl. What George Bush did would be like Clinton invading Africa after those Bombings. George Bush did for Osama  what he never dreamed of. He created an unstable middle east in order to get Blood Oil. George Bush said the war would last 6 months. It would be paid for with Iraq Blood Oil.
Iraq War= The worst blunder in the history of America.
Osama  is stronger now, than ever.
Going back to Clinton is just another way to try and cover up for this incompetent and corrupt administration. They govern by FEAR. We are way more unsafe now, thanks to The Bush Crime Family.
Blank
482220_tn?1238125851
In case you forgot, the Middle East as been unstable for many many years. We all thought the war would last 6 months, well actual war was short, but the vacuum created was grossly underestimated and a major blunder. Call it blood oil or whatever makes your political statement. Are you ready for $10/gal gasoline? How about $20? With the world demand for oil, unfortunately the Middle East is the hotspot. So we can leave that entire region alone and ride bikes to work. I can do it, but i bet most cannot.

I don't believe Osama is stronger now. Blurbing radical statements on a every six months doesn't prove he's stronger.

And why are we "more unsafe" now??? Because some web sites says so? :) I'd rather be proactive on fighting the few abroad than having them attack us on our soil again.

Two weeks ago, John McCain said. " we will never fight another War for oil again", he said that, not me. Then of course he got the call, and started back tracking.
Branches of the United States Government said we are more unsafe now.Not me. That was on CSPAN, not some web site. Before the war. 1 barrel of oil= $20.00 NOW 1 barrel of oil $133.50  Bomb Iran? 1 barrel of oil= sky's the limit. The #1 reason Bush went to Iraq was to increase the value of OIL......Not to steal the oil.  Just like everything else, he underestimated it by a wee bit. I call it blood oil because it cost America 4,080 young men for George Bush to get the price of oil up............
Blank
482220_tn?1238125851
Seriously, regardless of how much you dislike him, to say that the pres went to war just to raise the price of oil? I remember why we went to war and it clearly wasn't for that reason. The intention was good, but the execution was bad. All Bush haters can do is use emotion and harsh language to make their point.

Rather than bashing Bush, how about telling us what you would do, or Obama/Hillary. Saying we need "Change" is easy to do. I really look forward to hearing Obama speak on the issues then we can debate on facts, not name calling based on emotion.

Why did Clinton not do anything about Osama while in office?

I sincerly value your opinion. I would not ask if I didn't. I think you know that.
Blank
Avatar_m_tn
I never meant to be disrespectful to you or your son. I am sorry that you feel that everyone who disagrees with Bush and this war is showing disrespect. I am asking you nicely. Did you hear McCain say in a speech last week, quote unquote. " we will never go to war for oil again, when I am President"? HE SAID IT. Why would he say that? He must believe it had something to do with oil. He never retracted his statement. He wasn't talking about World War 2.
Blank
482220_tn?1238125851
i did not indicate that anyone disagreeing with Bush is disrespectful, please don't put words in my mouth. i said Bush "haters." i disagree with many of his decisions. but i don't spew hatred remarks or false information in lieu any logic or valid argument.

yes i did hear McCain make the comment. I believe he corrected himself later.
Blank
Avatar_m_tn
I have no way of knowing why we went to war in Iraq.Bush has changed his story several times.Oil makes a lot of sense now. I also don't know why Clinton did not get Osama. I do know this though. Clinton said he tried. If you do some research, you will find this. While the congress was spending all it's time and millions of dollars impeaching Clinton for oral sex, he was trying to get Bin Laden. Also, at the same time, Clinton did air strikes in Iran. Clinton did two air strikes in Afghanistan to try and kill Bin Laden. They missed. The next week. The Republican Congress accused Clinton of doing the air strikes in order to take attention away from his blow job. They were not concerned about Bin Laden at all. There were 8 months after Clinton left office where Bush ignored all the warnings about Bin Laden. At least Clinton tried.
Hey, if you need to blame Clinton for the mess America is in, thats fine with me. Blame it on Clinton.
Blank
Avatar_m_tn
You like so many others think that Clinton was impeached because of oral sex. You are so wrong, it was because he lied under oath. Oh, I know what is coming next, so please don't go there. If you were to bother checking you would find it was reported from many international news sources that WMD were taken from Iraq to Syria while the UN was running around looking where Sadam said they could. Is it true? We may never know. Do I think that we should have invaded? That doesn't matter, the point is we did, along with other countries of character, and without making sure a Government that can stand on its own is in place before we leave would be a bigger mistake.

Having a son and a daughter-in-law in the military and knowing their lives are on the line makes this personal for me. They both are very proud of our country and are willing to fight for the freedom that all of us here enjoy. Are you entitled to your option, you bet, that is why they joined but please, please don’t stoop to making their, and all the men and women that serve and have given their lives, a joke about blood for oil.
Blank
Avatar_f_tn
First, thank you. Convoluted at best, thank you for your answer. You took us down a couple of rabbit holes. I asked you not to mention anything but Clinton and Osama. You brought up: Bush, blow jobs and Oil. I rest my Republican case. Let's not forget, I too hate Karl Rove.
I don't care why Clinton did not 'get' Osama he just simply didn't try. Two air strikes in August of 98 doth an attempt do not make. That's what upsets me. The families of the people who died during the Clinton years '93 - '00 in those attacks and the 4k on Sept. 11 do (care) and deserved more. Why is Sept 11 Bush's fault when the other attacks were momentum. More than a spanking, two airstrikes really....but let's blame Bush. Clinton didn't do enough.
Since we're on airstrikes, I can't help but mention the airstrikes he (Clinton) did in Iraq with Tony Blair in Dec.1998 was for Saddam Hussien and his difiance against the United Nations (UNSCOM) for - get this- Weapons of Mass Destruction. Clintons own words. Imagine that. Look it up. Dec '98. Don't take my word for it. He did not go directly after Osama. He went after Suddam. He did what this administration has done. But I don't hear anyone bitching and moaning about when he did it. It was unfortunatley to no avail. Except, Bush got him.
I will end now with, I how much I want our troops home. I wish we would have stuck to our initial 16 month commitment and got out. I do know that I don't know and won't pretend to armchair quarterback. Side bar; My neighbors, three men, in the Army and Army Reserves, all Democrats, while they disagree with Bush, they do all agree we still need to be there. They have each done two tours and in June one will be doing his third. I personally feel this is wrong. See, I don't agree with everything. I do not, in any way shape or form blame Bill Clinton for the mess we're in. Nor do I blame Bush. What upsets me is the ones that do solely blame Bush and selectively choose not to remember what was given to Bush that's all.
As far as the oil companies, I think everyone is mad that they got into the wrong business.
Too bad we can't give blow jobs for oil. A lot more lives would be saved and everyone would be happier.
Thank you again Sterling. I do appreciate it. I don't want to sound sarcastic, I really do value your opinion.
I'm off to bed then up for work in the a.m. as I don't own an oil company. ;)
Take care,
Marie

I think looking toward the future most of us would agree on a lot of things. I understand everyone's point of view, but I guess the real question here is .....where do we go from here.  This country is in big trouble.  I don't think it is going to be changed by a new president.  I think only WE can change things.  We need to demand change !  We can't sit by while they ship our jobs overseas.  They say we have the best healthcare in the world, but as time goes on, less and less people can afford this care. We need to find a way out of this war.  We don't have the troups or money to sustain it. We need to find alternative fuel. Brazil has done it. We can too. This is our country and we need to take it back from big business.

I guess the one main reason I am pro-Obama is he has a way of bringing people together.  He seems more willing than the other canidates to cross those party lines and find compromise.

The bottom line is ......Bush had a personal vendetta against Sad-amm because of his Daddy.  Sad-aam had nothing to do with 911  it was the 10ft Ape we gave intelligence to

Our options are going to be McCain or Obama.  If you need to know more about Obama, you can go to many different web sites or read one of his books.  There is plenty of info on him out there. I understand that many people don't know much about Obama. I read his books before he was ever running for president. Liked what I read and have been following him in the news etc. for about 4 years now.  I also feel he is doing the best he possibly can to keep race out of this.
All I can say to you is I know where McCain will take this country and I will be voting for something different this time.

Alienshadow,
I'm sorry, but you're really out of touch with reality. Where are you getting your info from, the Enquirer?  Or do you just hate black people so much, that you can't see past that?  You're one of the few people left that doesn't know whats really going on. Time to wake up and get your head out of the sand.

As Democrats and Independents weigh who they want to run against John McCain in the fall, answer this question. Can you support a candidate who is friends with terrorists? Can you support a candidate who takes money from terrorists? Well, if Obama is your man you have some problems. Today’s Bloomberg News drops this bombshell:

Besides Rezko and Giannoulias, Obama could face questions about his relationship with William Ayers, a former member of the radical group the Weather Underground who is now a professor of education at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Ayers donated $200 in 2001 to Obama’s Illinois state Senate campaign and served with him from 1999 to 2002 on the board of the Woods Fund, an anti-poverty group.

A Series of Bombings

The Weather Underground carried out a series of bombings in the early 1970s — including the U.S. Capitol and the Pentagon. While Ayers was never prosecuted for those attacks, he told the New York Times in an interview published Sept. 11, 2001, that “I don’t regret setting bombs.”

Bill Burton, Obama’s spokesman, said Ayers “does not have a role on the campaign.” Ayers said he had no comment on his relationship with Obama.

Does not have a role on the campaign? Well thank God for that. Are you kidding me?

Peter Hitchens was the first to hint at this relationship, but Tim Burger nails it. William Ayers is an American terrorist. What else do you call someone who plants bombs at Federal facilities? William Ayers has not been prosecuted for the bombings, but he was directly involved. He admits this. And do not give me the nonsense that he was fighting for a good cause. Martin Luther King’s message of non-violence had no place in the political ideology of Mr. Ayers. And Ayers is unrepentant.

First, Ayers contributed money to Obama.

Your search found 1 receipts totaling $200.00

Contributed By Amount Received By Description
Ayers, William
1329 E. 50th Street
Chicago, IL 60615  $200.00
4/2/2001 Individual Contribution
Friends of Barack Obama

Second, this is more than a casual acquaintance. Obama and Ayers served together on the board of the Woods Fund. Did Obama and Ayers do more than simply sit side-by-side? Did they steer money to favored groups? Those are questions that journalists not bowing at the feet of the Obama god need to ask.

hummmmmmmmmm terrorist funding for his weak campaign i could post plenty but this isnt a political forum now IS IT ??????????

Time you said anything against Obama, you are automatically labeled as a racist.
This is crazy!  I dont want a leader who is beginning to resemble a DICTATOR everyday when you cant even speak out against him.  F*@k that S#!t

It is unfortunate this thread had to turn into a hate mongering, racist and completely absurb argument.  I find several of the above postings offensive to any logical or productive debate, rather shouting insantities that are based on isolation and blantant ignorance.

So very sad.   Your intent was good Mary, thank you for sharing a lighter subject and your experience.  It is unfortunate it had to turn into  a juvinile name calling and profanticy laced brawl of so called adults.

I do understand what your saying, but remember it wasn't Obama that said that. It was someone on this forum. This really is something we all need to work on. It's still a sensitive issue for many. Just remember it goes both ways. There definatley are people out there that won't vote for Obama, for no other reason than he is black. Then there are blacks that feel pressure to vote for him. I do get it.  It is a problem. It's another hurdle for us all to get over, and I believe we can.
