Origin of food

When purchasing food, do you consider what country it's been grown in?  Is it important to you to know where your food comes from???  Feel free to add your own choice.  Thank you in advance :)

We are really careful about buying American made or grown anything. I have NEVER owned a car or truck that was not American made.(alot of part on it are not american made). For so long I have watched for American made or grown, it is like just what I do now.  So many jobs get sent overseas and I thinik it *****! I do understand that it cost more to buy most American made products. But, I gotta stay true to myself. WE are a made in America family.

Sorry, nauty, I disagree about the automobiles. The only true piece of junk I ever drove was an Opel made by Isuzu...bleeaack! Cost a fortune to keep repairing the same things over and over! All of our American made autos have ben pretty good(except for my '78 Monte Carlo, which was a beautiful car, but also cost a fortune to keep up). But, honestly, I'm a little ticked at big companies of any kind right now with all of the boo-hoo bailout nonsense. Who the heck is gonna bail US out???!?

I have to agree.  It's not always practical to "buy American"  Half the time I don't even know what I am buying.  I realize it later.....lol. end of quote

Me:  you get what you pay for.  That's funny, I was just thinking my daughter has a better digital camera than me but she doesn't pay any bills, I do.  There is not justice in this world ;)

I also have to admit that there are certain things I wont buy American....esp. Cars.....Imports are better built and have a longer life span......sorry.  Betta make sure those tomato's your throwing at me are not from Mexico.......:;-))~~

Me:  Only in the USA do we pay farmers not to plant their crops and import food from third world countries that have no safety inspections and use chemicals banned in the United States....

I'm going to be honest,I always look for whats on sale. It's usually the price and not the origin that is the determining factor for me.I know that sounds horrible, but financially my husband and I are on a pretty strict budget.

I am proud to say though that both of my sons, who seem to be more financially secure then me,[most likely because they still live at home LOL],always look for the 'made in America' label when purchasing things.Although that 'label' is getting harder and harder to find these days. They both will spend the extra money,to keep the money in their own back yard as they both say.

It is important to me to buy American as much as possible, but sometimes my budget won't allow it. There seems to be more stuff around from other countries nowadays unless I'm just paying more attention now.
