It is sad, I try to catch those and redirect them to post a new thread.  It seems like after the first post...they go away.  Maybe 25% repost.  I have even messaged them to repost.  Nada.  Breaks my heart.

Hi everyone -

I just wanted to clarify a couple of things.  It is really beneficial for new members to start their own threads so that their posts don't get lost on an older thread, but many new members find these old posts in Google searches.  The up side to this is that they are finding this wonderful community to get the help and/or info they need.

It's ok to reach out, welcome them, and nicely suggest they make a new thread so they will get the best response, and let them know how to do that,

Have a great day everyone,

Emily

I hope I dnt sound like a biotch I do mean it in the nicest way possible.I was inspired when I saw a post@the top from1999(AGAIN).I feel bad cause Ive taken the time2read threw some of the really old posts2c what the "new" question is&tell them2start a new thread.I c EVERYTIME people saying this is an old post, start a new thread over and over w/even more people through the years immediately under that post ask the own new question.I figure this may help(I HOPE)

Very good tip! I think people also get confused because in a lot of forums, if you start a discussion about something that already has a thread, the moderators will move it to the old thread. That happens a lot on the Android sites I am a member of. I guess they want to keep stuff grouped together. Our moderators don't do that, so it is good you posted this so the newbies will know.
