My husband and I are really enjoying our new sober life .  Let me tell you there is nothing like sex after opiates , i use to take my pills and think sex was great but after taking them for so long that feeling went away as did all those other "great feeling " ....TEE HEE .... After 30 days all your feeling comes back and your not so numb , just wanted to let eveyone know that sex can be 10 times better after getting off opiates and you have something to look forward to ...off to enjoy my new life !!  Is this me or has anyone else noticed this ??

i just got out of detox for taking 8-10 norcos a day {and nothing else}. Ive been on these pills for over 6 years and one big reason for me not going into detox sooner besides not being ready was my fear of how sick I was going to get and for how long. Also the mental side effects after. Its been over three days without those pills in my system and going into detox was freakishly easy. I know a lot of people with horror stories and I don't know if its cuz they tried to detox themselves or what. I also wasn't given anything habit forming like suboxone or anything. I feel so good and free and i know how those pills can control you and i honestly have no cravings and i am very happy and zero depression. I even stopped taking the withdrawal meds early cuz i felt so good. so please do not be afraid. those doctors know what they are doing. I did a little research first to find a place that has good stars since most of them have 2 stars lol. i don't know where you live but GAADS is where i went to and i was out of the hospital after 24 hours and it was very easy.

Hi Spider!! Don't worry about the 1 minute thin b/c it always starts off that way with EVERY guy getting sober off opiates... one minute turns into 2, then 4, then 10. My husband and I have 7 months together now and no longer have this "problem". Hang in there and stay clean! Don't let that be the deciding factor- life gets better every day!!

Ew, that was put kinda crude - blunt, but crude - but we'll forgive you since your just a man ;-)
Hang in there. I don't know how long it will take, but I know it's normal. My ex-fiance battled this for years - but he wouldn't stay clean. Needless to say after an 8 yr. addiction he could only perform while on opiates. If she loves you, she will wait it out with you. I didn't leave him b/c of that, I left because I wanted to live sober. He did not. ANYWAY, just saying, I spent 2 years with him like that. Was it hard on the relationship, yes, but would I leave him for it, no - and like I said, neither will she if she loves you and you are good to her. Stay clean, wait it out, and be open about it.
P.S. You can try numbing condoms (may or may not work). Secondly, my ex went to many many dr.s refusing to believe it was due to the opiates. He convinced himself that if he wanted to live a normal sex life he HAD to be on opiates. That's stupid. If you really want a shot at normal you will stay off them long enough to see.... Rambling again... ANYWAY, ALL the dr.s he went to told him to take Paxil. He would try it for a day or two and it wouldn't work. This is not my recommendation, just letting you know my experience... Ironically, many years later I got put on paxil. A day or two on it would not help. It takes weeks to take effect for whatever reason your using it. I was prescribed it for anxiety, but after 3 weeks or so my libido crashed, and I mean crashed. I could care less if I had sex or not. Me being a woman, this was the effect, but I can see how if it decreased my libido, it might make a man last longer. This would not be my first recommendation, because if that's all you need it for, you might as well wait those 3 weeks off opiates and see what happens. 2 weeks in seems like an eternity, I know, but it's not. Your body needs much more time to heal. In my opinion as a woman, I could wait another 2-4-6 weeks, no problem! There are so many other ways to make a woman feel loved. We are not like men. WAIT it out!!

Me too, I didn't even realize this is what stole my drive away.  Jesussavedme, I tapered down to 1 pill then jumped off Monday afternoon, so Tuesday was my first day not popping a hydro in 3 solid years plus many more years prior to that sporadically - Today is Day 5 for me.  If you are thinking about it you are in the right place, come over to the addicition non social forum introduce yourself and get some support and when you are ready, jump off.  I think the anxiety of going through withdrawal messes with your head.  YES it does really stink, it is h3ll and I didn't even plan to jump off, It just happened, I got mad about the pills and thought screw it, it is time.  Two days of h3ll but every day after that you feel a little better.  Prep yourself, stock up on immodium, look at the Thomas Recipe but understand that you are gonna feel like crap.  You'll find many great people of all types who will support and answer your questions.  The fact that you are here shows you realize it's time, now you have to make the commitment to yourself, you deserve it!  Wishing you the best!

Man...what a relief I thought I was the only one.  I have zero sex drive.  I've cut down but don't know if I should just take the plunge and go CT.  I'm tired of this drug running my life.  I feel like a robot.  I'm fearing the WD.  I'm going to start going to NA on Monday.  I also started going to counseling Weds.  I need to figure out the underlining issues of why I abuse this drug.  Please pray for me...I want to be free of this.
