Ok I guess I'll have to create a profile. Soma is not fun by itself but is still is a strong drug. It has a synergistic effect with opiates and that's how most people abuse it. As I said, It's a bad drug and most docs will avoid it but addicts will pester docs to give it. I stated how once when I was on it with other opiates (Rx and street dope), I was wide awake and walking but couldn't speak a word thanks to soma. I was then narcanned by cruel  inept paramedics  and suffered badly! I've seen many other addicts and many in institutions who had the soma problem. all the best

The names that are in blue, are the ones who have created a profile. The other ones didn't create a profile, that's all.

is she taking some kind of opiate, too?  It sounds to me that to make Soma effective, you need an opiate to go along with it.  Otherwise, why would she take it just as a muscle relaxer.  Would that alone get her high?
Also,  It won't do any good to take away her money or cancel her scripts though, she'll just get better at hiding it. Make sure you protect yourself financially, she will spend every last cent you have until she does get better.   Take it from someone who knows!

Soma is often abused in combination with opiate painkillers. It the principle of 1+1=3. A few soma and a few good pain pills can give a heroin like dope high that users insist on. Soma is a dangerous drug by itself.  once caused me to be fully awake but unable to speak. The meat wagon took me away and gave me a shot of narcan which was un-needed and caused me GREAT pain and torment. This was because I was hooked on opiates and taking soma. This is common and dangerous. all the best

I am holding on and it is hard.  I just told her tonight that I will not tolerate this behavior from her for much longer...she was being quite mean.  I told her that she is not herself and she knows it.  I told her that I will stick by her for however long I can.  I hope that she will stay off the soma, but if she doesnt' I will have a choice to make.  This is really hard on me and not good for my son.  He is hearing her and seeing her treat me like **** and it is not good for him.  He is almost 17.  I have been honest with him about what is going on and he is being patient too, but really, I hope this gets better because my heart is breaking.

I know she is always worth the wait.  I am just unsure at this point that I will be able to ride this waiting rollor coaster every time she choses drugs over life, you know?

Now I really am going to bed.

Good night

love,

Debbie

When my husband and I met in 2001, I did not have any issues with drugs or alcohol.  My problem started about 18 months ago and that was all it took for him to be completely fed up with me.  I don't blame him.  He told me, he warned me that he would kick me out.  I knew it.  Just sucks that 11 days before our final divorce hearing, I had some medical issues come up and quit taking vicodin on the 11th of this month, only to end up divorced on the 19th anyway.  In all fairness though, I did not share the medical problems with him ( I had already moved out two weeks earlier) cause I did not want that to be a factor in stopping the divorce that I was pretty sure he wanted.  I have only just this week shared with him those things in hopes of a little moral support from him.  I believe you love Sally with all your heart, I lurk on here alot, just hold on as long as you can, but in the end, you have to do what is best for you.  Take care and good luck.

WOW.  Well, I can't worry about it now.  Don't think I wont be getting myself ready and I really have some thinking to do.  I guess I am getting to the point where I am wondering if I want to spend my life with this addiction.  I want her and to get old with her, but am getting to where I am not sure if I can do the yoyo thing for the rest of my life.  I came into this blindly and am now becoming afraid of our future.  I guess time will tell.  I want to stick it out.  I love her and now I am even more sad.

Thanks for being real with me you guys.  I need it.

Good night.

Debbie

It is carisoprodol.  What you have is Xanax and is for anxiety and can be used as a muscle relaxer.

Description
Skeletal muscle relaxants are used to relax certain muscles in your body and relieve the stiffness, pain, and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, or other injury to your muscles. Skeletal muscle relaxants act in the central nervous system (CNS) to produce their muscle relaxant effects. Their actions in the CNS may also produce some of their side effects.

The side effects of Soma that may go away during treatment, include drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, clumsiness, changes in vision and headache.

Tell your doctor if you experience; drowsiness or dizziness; headache; depression; blurred vision or small pupils; insomnia; hiccups; faint ringing in the ears; or nausea, vomiting, constipation, lack of bladder control, irritability or trouble sleeping. You may need a reduced dosage.

What are the symptoms of overdose?
Serious side effects include difficulty breathing, fever, severe weakness, changes in vision, swelling or skin rash, closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; paralysis (loss of feeling) or extreme agitation or tremor; red, black, or bloody stools; or blood in your vomit. If you experience any of these, stop taking Soma/Carisoprodol. You may be having an allergic reaction and should seek emergency medical attention.

If you suspect an overdose has occurred, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

There you go girl.  More than you ever wanted to know.

Love,

Debbie

Sally will go right back..  I did.  I had the most wonderful supporting husband out there, he wanted me to quit taking vicodin, and he had me detox twice with his help.  I wasn't into that idea or ready I guess, so I kept going.  I knew he would kick me out of the house, which he did.  I didn't care.  Our divorce was final on the 19th of this month.  He has pretty much moved on, out dating and such, and here I sit, finally not taking vicodin anymore but all by myself.  It sucks.

Deb, i feel that she could go right back to taking them. You have to want to quit for it to work. I hope she will do it this time, but honestly, i feel that she will continue to use unless she gets it in her head to want to quit for real, and not quitting only cause the money isn't there. I know for me, i kept using time after time, cause i would find a way to get them. I am only clean today cause i got it in my head that i really wanted to quit. Let's hope and pray that i am wrong though...

Cathy, i am clean! Feel good! Will not use anything ever again. Just wanted to know what Soma's were. Hear alot of people talking about them, and when i try to respond to them i have been thinking they were oxy's or something like that. Just needed to know so i knew how to respond to people who are using them. Are they like Aprazalam? I have a whole bottle of them here, but don't take them cause first of all they give me the jumpies at night time, and second cause they do nothing for me. Just wondering if that is what they are like, cause the Aprazalam i have are some kind of a muscle relaxer.

Ok, done rambling....Lol     ( -:

Wuvs u both!!

So if Sally is only getting off the soma because she has no money and no more refills (remember I canceled them all) and not because she wants to....she's going to go right back to taking them, isnt she???

It is a muscle relaxer, a pretty strong one and from what I hear, it enhances the pain meds, acts as a catalist so that you get more results from the pain meds.
