Sponsors

Anyone that attends NA or AA Meetings regularly - Do you know what are the best types of meetings to find a sponsor? I think i need one but most of the meetings I go to people dont have much sobriety or they arent able to sponsor.  I know there are speaker meetings, maybe they are better to go to? Or are there certain meetings just for that prupose? Any help or info is appreciated.  I really dislike going to these meetings but if I dont do it I think I will eventually relapse

Hun  what meetings are you going to NA or AA?    There are so many different dynamics at each meeting, it sometimes takes several to find one where you are most comfortable.       Even tho your DOC may be a narcatic, you can still have a sponsor from AA and not NA,  it totally depends on the connection you feel with that other person.


I am so proud of you for reachig out and looking for a sponsor, this is so very important to your sobriety and the committment you have made to have a healthy, productive and happy life of which you are so deserving.      I respect you for asking these questions and searching for a sponsor that will be your life line during this time.

If you are not getting the answers to your questions at the meetings,  please call the AA number listed in the phone book and share with them  exactly as you have here of what you are looking for........in a lot of areas they have names of sponsors right at the help desk line to refer you for one on one help.  And today there are AA   NA  CA  (cocaine anny)   so many meetings that are trying to reach you, please don't stop looking dear.

thank you!  You are so kind and I appreciate your offer of assistance.  i go to NA mostly but occasionally an AA meeting and there are PPA (Prescription Pills Anon) by my house that I have been too but i really didnt like that one.  I guess I will just keep going until i find someone.  I am assuming it will happen eventually.  Thank you again!

dont give up you will find the right person for your sponsor. make sure they have 3-5 years clean time. that seems to be a fair amount of time for a person to know whats going to really work. good luck
