Subutex Withdrawal

This is my first post on here.  I read some of the threads and found them very motivational.  I am on 8mg of Subutex and have been on it for 2 years almost now.  In 2 weeks I am going to begin my taper.  I don't understand why my doctor does the tapers the way he does.  It seems way too fast for such a long acting drug and for someone who's been on it for as long as I have.  I start with 8mg/day for the first week, 6 mg/day the second week, so on and so on and down to nothing after a month.  Can anyone tell me what I should experience withdrawal-wise?  My doc said to expect some "discomfort" but nothing like getting off of the hydro's I was taking before.  I was taking about 12 hydros (7.5 mg) /day for 2 years with the occassional 60 percocets/month I got from my orthopedist (which would be gone in 5 or 6 days easily).  I tried getting off of them right before turning to subutex and it was pure you know what after just 1 or 2 days.  I can't believe the strength of a lot of you guys and gals.  My doctor said all the subutex should be out of my system after that 1 month detox (although I don't believe this to be true).  I really want some honest info from people that have gone through what I am about to go through.  I will have to work a 40-50 hr work week during this time and won't be able to take off.  Will work actually help me get through this?  Any info on your experiences getting off this med after being on it for a long time would be GREATLY appreciated.  I am honestly really scared right now.

Hello everyone I finally decided to signup to this site so I could get some info/help, I have been doin subutex for about the past five months everyday, the crazy thing is I was never addicted to opiates just ended up getting addicted to subutex.  - don't know the exact mil of pill I was taking but I made one pill last me for a week.  I would break it in pieces and put it under tongue, and I want to stop taking them cuz I don't have a script and don't want to get one, and I can't always get them so I decided to stop cold turkey, I am on day 4 and I will say this is one of the hardest worst pain/feelings I have ever went throung the sneezing restless legs and arms, tha depressing and always being sooooooo tired and not wanting to do anything, I will say day 3 was the worst, but I found out even tho I did just one pill a week it still is just as hard with witdraws as if I did one a day, if anyone has any info I would appreciatte it I'm goin to stick with it cuz I want to feel real like without the dependent of a pill

Hi dude, I find a lot of it is in your mind. You could probably take 4 ml 1 day and not notice any difference.
I have been clean 2 years from heroin, I reduced on methodone then went onto subutex. I reduced from the subys in 2 months from 6ml to 0.
You will still fell withdrawls and sleep problems, you will feel the cold, you will have strong emotions returning. But it will be nothing like coming off serious opiates (obviously you know subutex aren't actually an opiate) unfortunately you have to experience some discomfort to achieve your goal! I look at it as you have spent so long putting crap into your body, there is always a price to pay.
Good luck, it won't be as bad as you think, try not to build it up too much, it will fuel your anxiety.
Life is so much better with out opiates in my life, I was an addict for 10 years, crack and heroin. I'm now studying advice and guidance and life skills coaching and will be starting a job in a rehab centre soon. I never thought I'd see the day, but HARD WORK and determination have got me here.
Take that leap of faith and things will fall into place. Good luck!

Hi welcome.  Just so you know there are a few people, myself included on the other forum thathave exprience with Sub, but the support here is fantastic so feel free to post anywhere.
I have 3 more days left on my Sub detox.  This is how I did it.
I haven't been on itmore than 3 weeks but I can share what I've done and maybe that will help you.  Fladdict, who checks here occasionally is pretty much my SUb guru so post to her but here goes...
Is tarted the first day after a 200mg a day perc habit on 16 mg. I went down to 12 the next day, then 8 the next, then 6, then 4 for 3 days, then 2 for 3 days, then 1 for 3 days, then .5 for 3 days and i have been steady on .25 since.  I have had minor discomfort meaning i know i could feel better if i took more but i am taking the smallest possible amount in order to not feel completely ******.  I think thatis the key.  It's not going to be 100% discomfort free but just take enough tostop yourself from feeling like death and just take enough so that you can function normally.  I am stopping tomorrow and should expect to feel the w/d symptoms by sundy night, monday morning.  I have clonidine to help.  can you get that fom your dr??
Keep us posted.
I haven't been on it as long as you have and I here that the longer you are on it or the higher the dose the arder the w/d is but 8m is not that high and i think you'llbe just fine.
PS
check with Fladdict about amino acids.  I hear they goa long way to help with dression and energy.
Good luck to you.
