Third Day Of Tapering

Third Day Of Tapering

I had been doing 130 MG a day for a long time... on my first day of tapering I went to 90 MG, then the second day I did the same (90 MG) Today I did 80 MG.... Tomorrow I am going down to 70 MG... I bought some vitamin B6 and L-Tyrosine to help me with the withdrawal.. I am pretty happy that I have been able to go down so quickly.. though as soon as I came home, I started searching for my Dad's percocets (thank god he hides them)  In any case I am on my way down and hopefully for good! Any encouragement will be extremely welcomed!!  I can't wait to be free of this addiction!

No one can wait to be free of this addiction.... but if you relapse you will not be a winner. The single most common mistake for people that are trying to taper is that they just go too fast.  Most schools of thought say to drop your dose by 10% per week. This gets very important as you approach the lower limits.  Let your body adjust to the lower dose before you drop the dose yet again.  What would you have done had you found dads perc's?  Thats a good question for you to think about......

I did not see what exactly you are taperring (tapering) from. I am asuming either methodone or suboxen? I myself was on methondone for about 7yrs. I was @112mg aday & tapered down to 13mgs. in 7mos. I went down 10mgs. a week until I got to 40mg, then I waited two weeks @ 40mgs. for my body to adjust to that dose, because like you I really did not start feeling any different until I got to that dose. Like theeagle said it is very important once you start to feel lousy hold at that dose for at least 2 wks, so your body adjusts to that dose. You have to listen to your body, it never really took me longer than 2-3wks for my body to adjust to the lower dose. Once I got lower than 30mgs. I really needed to wait at least 2wks, before lowerring again, so I didn;t feel lousy. Your mind will play games with you when you start to get those really low doses, because it looks like such a small amount, you don't think you are getting enough meds. to do anything, but if you really want to quit you will just learn to put  that thought out of your mind. I jumped off at 13mgs. & it has been a month since I have had any methodone. I don't want to scare you, but just know that at even that low of a dose you will feel the effects & witdrawls of this med. It literally inbeds itslf into every part of your body. Looking at this challenge in hindsight, if you are not exercising now, I would start now while you are taperring (tapering), & start using great multi-vitamins, protien powders ect. to rebuild your body, so that when you get to your point of detox, maybe it won't be as hard on your body, because you will be in physically good shape. I myself have been very sick this entire  month, & it is very difficult to exercise, so if I had it to do over again, I would have started to work on my physical activity & try to get in the best shape I could while taperring (tapering), because I believe the body will heal faster, & have less withdrawls if you are in good shape when you stop your meds. I don't  believe you will feel nothing, but I think you will be in much better shape, & stronger mentally & physically. It is a long journey, so take it in stride if you can. One step at a time!!

Luv, you may be a perfect candidate for LDN Therapy. It's a low dose naltrexone therapy that if done properly "reboots" the pain receptors and will get rid of that draggy, sick feeling you've had for the past month. I talk about it in detail in the FAQ I have in the health pages.
I had every intention of doing it when I came off methadone, but it turned out in my case it wasn't neccessary.

But i've only heard success stories from those who've used it properly. The best thing is it doesn't involve an addictive/ habit forming substance. :-)

Thank you, yes I read your information on there. It was very good info. I did go down to GNC, & purchase good protein powder I put into soothie, multi-vitamins, flaxseed oil, ect., but I just started taking for last 11/2 wk, I wish I would have found this forum before I bailed off of my meds, but only after sufferring so badly did I start to search for answers to help me make it through, & thats when I found you guys. Yesterday & today have been about 50% better, so I am hoping I am on the otherside of this mountain. I have had somewhat of a better day before, only to slide right back into feeling like I was going to die. I am hopeful that will not happen again, my threshhold is running thin. Thanks for your support!

I hope you don't have to go through the trouble of hunting LDN up. It would be wonderful if you're in the end game here and starting to improve.

I wish I'd known about it the time before this time. I was three months off M and still feeling like h*ll.

However, since this last time was a great success, I'm content. But coming on here was a great help to me as well.

One note; watch out for the Omega vitamins. The 3's are fine but the 6's and 9's can actually make you feel worse. :-(

Thanks. I think I am starting to peak over the otherside of the mountain. I felt really good, besides a relentless headache yesterday, but did not sleep well, so today I feel a little tired & depressed. I don't know whats up with the sleep thing. It scares me that I will never be normal again. I  just want to  be able to  lay my head down & go to sleep without the aid of something.I am so afraid now of my body getting addicted to anything, but yet I have to sleep. I know exercise will help me, but it is so hard to do when you have no energy. I really need to lose some weight for myself also, so it is so depressing to want to workout, but have no enrgy to do it.UHGGGG!!!  I feel like all I talk about is how ****** I feel all the time, & how long it is taking to feel good.
